Waste of time
Bidunhommeon 11/07/2017 01:02Prospective guests beware: this is not a hotel where you can show up at any time to check in. It is a few apartments on a top floor of an office building managed by a careless owner who does not live on site.
Although I booked my room 4 days earlier the owner reached out to me on the morning of my check in to arrange a meeting time. I did not see his email which went to my spam folder. So he wasn't there when I showed up. Luckily he wasn't too far and we connected about 10 - 15 minutes later but then everything went wrong. First the hotel's address on Hotels.com is not the correct address. The owner sent me to the right address telling me wait outside he will be right there with the apartment key he left in his office. He showed up 15 minutes later stating his wife left the office and he does not have the key to get in and get my key. He couldn't get his wife to come back because she had to go the hospital; she and I talked when she left and she looked fine to me... I spent two hours outside of the building waiting for him to find the key without any updates. Albeit apologetic when he finally got hold of the key he said this wasn't his fault. By then I lost all my patience got my refund and booked a room at the nearby Hotel Carlton which had an available and caring staff.
Worst hotel experience ever
Nappyd53on 28/10/2016 13:12First of all Arts Hotel is not a hotel at all. It is basically a claustrophobic apartment with very poor service and amenities. Don't be fooled by the web site for this dump. It is by far the worst accommodations I have ever experienced anywhere. But.....if you like small rooms, NO TOILET TISSUE, wafer thin pillows, thread bear towels, dirty showers and nonexistent service you will love the Arts Hotel. And don't expect the manager, Alex, to be of any help either. I called and texted his at least a half dozen times for assistance and never heard from him. Do yourself a favor and find other accommodations in Lyon.
Perfect Location
PJD68on 26/09/2016 15:46Our second time staying here while in Lyon. Location is perfect for shopping and restaurants and at top of old renovated building. Lift up to top floor. Only main outside noise was from the church across the way when the bells chimed but it was ok.
A Hard Rock Cafe is being built at the bottom of the building next door. We didn't have any noise or disruptions while we ere there.
Alex is lovely guy who you meet to get the keys and he shows you to apartment. Compact, light and comfortable. It has small kitchenette which we used the coffee machine and fridge.
Hope to visit again next year if in the area.
Poor value for money & smoke
jasmine won 25/06/2016 11:25Location is great and the rooms are nice. But far too expensive for what it is. Our room stank of smoke and when we questioned it they simply said that they cannot control what guests do. The worst of it was that they had tried to blotch it out with air freshner. Nightmare...
Never again.
One of the worst
Jummerson 25/12/2015 15:35When we booked this hotel online, and then had several conversations with the "hotel", we to be upgraded to their DELUXE apt. However, upon our arrival at the address, we found an apt bldg with no signs or front desk. In fact, we finally found out that all they did was rent out studio Apts. They have no presence anywhere, no room service and no assistance. The kitchen sitting room had 1 small 18" table with 1 chair. Their deluxe apt was nothing more than a bed and tiny table. You certainly could not have eaten any meal here. Their prices were higher than the deluxe 4-5* hotels.
AVOID AT ANY COST!!
