What People are saying

Excellent and quiet stay in central Portugal

BBGerickeon 26/06/2016 15:06

We stayed almost a week in this nice Artvilla in a perfect maisonette. Located in the very small place Vila Nova, next to Cadaval, about 60km North of Lisbon in the green countryside and wine yards, Artvilla consists of several differently shaped and decorated double bedrooms or apartments, a small pool and terraces for each apartment. There is also a nice central "living room" where you can have a great breakfast buffet (€ 6,-- pp). The hosts are tremendously friendly and speak English and French next to Portuguees. You can always ask for recommendations for trips to the beaches or lovely cities to visit - if you want to leave this nicely decorated and calm place! 😉

Quiet and remote

robertcoumanson 26/10/2015 20:16

Laying in a very remote 20 % abandoned place with almost no facilities in the neighbourhood. The best issue of that is that it s very very quiet. During the night you experience 100 percent silence and darkness. If you drive to the left to mount montejunto there s a nice biosphere on top in the bottom of an old crater. Worth a visit. To lisbon is about 40 minutes by tol road. The breakfast is well organized and okay, the rooms are clean and nice with all facilities you need. Whats mentioned as art was not our kind of style. The pool is not more than a lunch pool. The staff is very helpful.

Sometimes the best place can be the people

This is the third time that we go to this place. Me and my family love the surroundings, the food, the beaches and the quiet time to relax. Time here stops.
and the people of Artvilla are truly amazing. Thank you very much.

Zen weekend

Our friends invited us for a weekend outside Lisbon and they chose Artvilla. What a great choice. Lovely place with lively hosts. Rooms are spacious and modern. Bed is important to me and I always comment on it. This one was excellent. We asked to prepare us dinner and all was genuine and delicious especially the pork filet. There is a small swimming pool which is good enough for a deep to cool off a bit. Main attractions close to the place: Obidos and Buddha Eden garden, an absolute must see.

Great laid back holiday rental

Well and truly off the beaten track with excellent places to visit in the surrounding area - Obidos, Peniche, Nazare, Alcobaça and of course gorgeous Lisbon just down the road. Great breakfast to set you up for the day, really laid back vibe, lovely rooms with great decoration. Highly recommended for exploring a brilliant part of Portugal. Excellent welcome from Catarina, a great host. The area is very agricultural (pears, pears and more pears!) so you do get plenty of tractors chugging around, but for heaven's sake don't let that put you off! There's a winery just down the road too that does excellent food, well worth exploring. Perfect if you just want to do your own thing, operating from a comfy base. Shame we couldn't have stayed a few more days!
