BUYER BEWARE DESTINATION AMENITY FEE
Gonefishing6on 31/07/2017 22:42Booked trip pre paid via Expedia and verified pricing including tax with hotel beforehand. Upon checkin I was told I need to provide a credit card for room incidentals. With no explanation of any other possible charges. I did not question as this is pretty typical. Shorty after I find a 50 dollar hold on the card. This was a practice that is considered to be quite out dated and sleazy as the value in the hold represents no actual charge. I wont get into what the hassle of a cc hold does while on vacation. Upon checkout I received a statement that says Check In receipt with the following charges for each day. DESTINATION AMENTY FEE (15.00 per day ) and PARKING OPTIONS $18 per day. Maybe the Hotel manger can comment on the following questions below to help me and the rest of the upset customers I saw checking out when I was checking in understand.
1. Why does this bill say check in receipt if the first time its mentioned or provided is upon check out?.SCAM ALERT
2.What exactly is a DESTINATION AMENTY FEE. And what does it go to.
3.why are neither the Destination or parking fees advertised or mentioned at any time other than checkout? SCAM ALERT
4.On top of these I am being charged additional room tax even though I had been quoted by the hotel that the room rate included all taxes?SCAM ALERT
5.What are the parking options as the bill states options available even though I had not been offered any or notified of a parking fee. SCAM ALERT
This is nothing but an old fashioned bait and switch. Which modern reputable hotels do not practice. Please answer each of these.
Perfect location by the beach
pcouto9801on 31/07/2017 21:18The hotel is in a perfect location, right across from the beach and at the top of the strip mall. If you want to get away from the crowds and all the noise at night but still be a close walk to all the fun this is the spot for you. The Wharfside breakfast has good service and the food was even better. Can be on the smaller side but it was perfect. There is only one elevator that is used throughout the building, right near guest services. At times it is full with a line of guests waiting for their turn and the elevator it self is very small.
Street parking is available which is free but not guaranteed. This location has vallet parking, which is not disclosed that there is a fee daily of $15. You are not allowed to go to your vehicle, or take it out of vallet parking unless there is someone from the staff there to help. Which there wasn't at times.
Rooms were clean, bathrooms were clean as well. Balcony's provided an awesome view of the beach and surrounding buildings.
Great location
K2serviceon 30/07/2017 21:01You can't beat the location, nor how the room looks. However my one complaint and it's a big one was the bed. Two beds in the room and one was so worn out I skipped that one. The other also needs to be replaced. With the price which was high but right for the location and time of year, you would expect a nice firm newer mattress. Hopefully next time I'll get a better night sleep.

Robin Mon 27/07/2017 02:53The hotel is in a great location and having 3 restaurants on premises is great although the servers while very friendly are a bit slow. I think they may need more servers on staff. The room is smaller than we expected but was sufficient for our needs. Would have selected a two queen room as opposed to a king bed and sleeper couch but that was all that was available. We enjoyed the balcony and view of the ocean. We did have an issue with smokers on the surrounding balconies, the hotel is completely smoke free, and the manager took action as soon as I reported it on 2 occasions, thank you! The bathroom was large and modern and the cable tv selections were good. Valet parking was convenient as we left to go to Kittery, Maine twice. Overall a very nice stay, we will stay at the Ashworth again. We stayed 5 nights. Would highly recommend either ocean view or ocean front room! Worth the extra money.
Best stay ever in 30 years at Hampton beach
Yvonne Ton 25/07/2017 16:02My husband and myself were treated like royalty at the ashworth. From our arrival to our departure the staff was rite there to help answer question or to get us what we needed. Our room was cleaned every day when we were out and about or at the beach so we did not have to wait when we came back for more clean towels. The room was a little smaller than we are use to but it had a king bed and refrig. The balcony was nice looking at a partial view of the ocean. We are definately going back there next year. The sand bar had the most incredible waitress and bar tender. I think her name was Mihala she treated us like she had known us forever. Can not wait until next year!!!!
