Excellent Guest Care Start to Finish

Aspen Suites was recommended to me by someone who has made multiple trips to Rochester to utilize the Mayo Clinic. From arrival to departure, the venue and the staff were first class. The first night I discovered that I had booked a room that was not well suited to my needs. I notified the staff of my problem and they had made arrangements for me to get a more suitable room within an hour. The new suite turned out to be perfect for me. The Staff was excellent with special kudos to the maid service... every day when I came home, the suite was sparkling clean as if it had been prepared for a new guest. The location was excellent with a good restaurant next door and good coffee shop right up the street. The shuttle to Mayo picks up at the front door.
I highly recommend anyone traveling to Rochester MN strongly consider staying at the Aspen Suites.

Great customer care and great value

We have to come to Rochester every year for follow up to our daughters liver transplant. It is always stressful to meet with all the doctors and tests that have to be done for her. We have stayed at Aspen Suites for 17 years (It was called something else before Aspen). The hotel is always clean, the front desk is always friendly and the rooms are always clean and well equipped with a cooktop, disherwasher, microwave and full size fridge. The added benefit to have a small meal at dinner time (Sundowner) saves us from having to go out and get a meal or to cook if we didn't want to. They do provide a nice breakfast in the morning too which allows us to get a meal in before a whole day of tests. Even though all our daughters visits now are at Mayo and there are hotels closer to Mayo we will always stay at Aspen Suites.

Good old fashioned customer service

The hotel is nice, the amenities are nice- a lot of hotels are. What sets this hotel apart is the wonderful customer service. We felt like the only guests in the hotel- by the time i checked out, i felt like a friend. Our every need was met with genuine care. Highly impressed,

MOST UNCOMFORTABLE BEDS EVER

Great breakfast and small dinner/snack service was wonderful. The staff in general were friendly. However, we were initially told that only $5 would be held on our credit card and we could pay in whatever way we would like at check out. The hotel ended up holding over $700 for a week. When questioning the manager about it, we were told, "Most people just know that's part of reserving a hotel room. It's not my job to communicate that your funds are going to be held." They never apologized. Never acknowledged the fact we were told "the most that should be held is $5". Their shuttle service to Mayo was great. Their mattresses were the most uncomfortable mattresses we've ever slept in. We were there a week and ended up having to sleep on the floor or recliner in the living area due to back pain (which is not a normal occurrence as we are not people who generally suffer from back pain) numerous nights. The location was nice. Just a mile from the Mayo Gonda building and far enough to not be right in the middle of the downtown traffic. Right across the street from St. Mary's hospital. The Canadian Honker restaurant is right next door which had great food and easy access from the hotel. It was nice to have the kitchenette and USB charging ports in the room. Overall, the hotel was okay but due to the discomfort of the beds, we would not stay here again.

We stayed 13 nights at Aspen Suites while our daughter had surgery at St Mary's Hospital. We loved the convenience of the hotel being right across the street from the hospital. It was less than a mile walk from my daughters hospital room to our hotel room and back to her room. They also offered free shuttles to Mayo so you didn't have to worry about parking. We had a car but liked that there were several good restaurants within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our kids loved the indoor pool/hot tub. They also have a laundry room with 4 washers/dryers which were free and made doing laundry much faster. The room was large and clean. We had family who also stayed there and enjoyed being able to get together in the large family room. They also offer free breakfast every morning and a small evening meal Monday thru Thursday. If we ever need to go back to St Mary's/Mayo, Aspen Suites will be our first choice for a hotel.
