Wonderful surprise!

Read a lot of negative reviews of this property. I was pleasantly surprised to find it delightful! Yes, it is an older property but the room was updated. The bathroom could use a little more work. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The best asset of the property is the Fryingpan River runs through the backyard. Falling asleep to the sound of the river was heavenly. Definitely ask for a river view room - aka. Building A. Continental breakfast available after 7 AM. very nice restaurant located next door.

Excellent views, affordable price, clean and comfy

Stayed one night in basalt to hike Maroon Bells. Didn't want to stay in the more congested and pricey Aspen. Very good choice. This hotel was really simple, no frills. However it was really clean and maintained in the room. The front office was another story so we were happy to see that the rooms were so nice. The beds were comfy and the view just outside the room is beautiful with the frying pan river right out the door. It's easy walking to the little downtown area to eat. Very affordable and nice value when traveling with a family of four. Will stay again. Would have given five stars except for the unkept office area and cluttered area behind the office.

Good Value Based Motel

Based on reviews, we requested an upstairs river view room, which was delightful. I love the sound of rushing water and the window do open, giving you the choice of A/C or fresh air. The room appeared clean with a small fridge and microwave. Here only for the night, but totally met our needs and the price was right.

Affordable and clean

Sometimes you just need a place to crash for the night and you're on a budget. The Aspenalt Lodge fits that bill very well.

No frills, and it you can tell the place has been well used, but I found to be clean and remarkably quiet.

The only issues I had was the lack of lighting in the room, the water in the shower jumping between hot and freezing, and the worn springs in the mattress. None of them are deal killers and I will stay here again if I'm in the area on business.

Not as good as imagined

As the reviews of this hotel was very good our expectations were quite high. But it was not as good as expected.
We did not get a river facing room. :(
The internet was not working in both of our rooms. The reception did not help was either. We were their for only one night. So, can't tell if they repaired the internet later or not.
Rooms looked clean. But the bed clovers looked old and a little untidy.
Other than that it was ok.
A Mexican restaurant right in the opposite lane is vey good. We had our dinner there. It was very welcoming and food was also good.
