mexican68on 11/06/2017 08:48nice rooms and clean very good view staff very friendly and polite and efficient plenty hot water and good water pressure for showering. For breakfast i had cold egg and chips (fries) again no baked beans,evening meal was so-so not good .Money exchange machine in the lobby >The water in all of Japan is safe to drink straight from the tap.
Excellent hotel
Julia Son 04/06/2017 08:08Large hotel out of Takayama so a bit isolated, shuttle bus into Town but final return journey is 8.30 so abit early. Hotel a few different priced restaurants (to suit your pocket) - recommend the evening buffet - breakfast good too. Didnt try the onsen (but heard it was good), View over valley lovely. Some might find Hotels too impersonal - but it had all you wanted.
Wonderful hotel
DrLeoAon 30/05/2017 16:25The room was clean and had all of the amenities that one could want.And once again(as we have found to be true of all our stays in Japan),the front desk and staff go out of their way to help you out. Even though it is located a bit out of town,it is only a short taxi ride or hotel shuttle service to town.I expected a hotel this large to be crowded and impersonal, but found it the complete opposite. And the onsen was fantastic(several choices and not crowded.

A tour full of interest and fascination,
The Associa Takayama Resort
Is a great hotel of the smarter sort.
Dinner (included) exquisite food, Japanese
Served by staff anxious to please,
Artistically presented sushi, I just looked.
Wonderful Hika beef which I cooked
On a hot platter then boiled beef
Stewed in a pot on the table (plus some leaf).
Japan has raised food above mere subsistence
To become the triumph of style over substance,
An art form indulged in by their insistence.
We're told Japanese food is subtle
But I think this notion needs a rebuttal.
Apart from salty umami to savour
I don't think this has very much flavour.
Monosodium glutamate and sodium chloride
Aren't fattening, or even food - you decide.
To me, sushi really isn't that nice
It has all the appeal of cold wet rice.
Breakfast is international buffet
I had bacon and chips plus passable coffee.
The breakfast room's great view. When the Sun shines
No one can see it - they draw all the blinds.
The walking tour of the town Takayama
(It's not tacky at all) - could not have been calmer.
Flat walking, unhurried and peaceful,
This town's attractive, friendly and beautiful.
After festival floats, market, government building,
We stayed on in town, time easily filled in.
Lunch at Salute- very good crab pasta,
And an excellent Hika beef pizza.
Service was pleasant, swift and efficient,
The quality high, quantity more than sufficient.
The Takayama museum of history and art
Is superbly presented, one thing apart -
And that is the injunction "no picture".
" No flash" would be an accectable stricture.
We returned to the Associa by shuttle bus.
It runs every hour with little fuss.
However, on arrival back at the hotel,
Coincided with mass check-in - lift hell!
Hundreds of people and only two lifts
So I used common sense, (one of my gifts),
I used the other building's lifts to the second floor
Crossed over, took the lift down then up more.
To take a hot mineral bath there's co-option
But, of course, I didn't, as clothing's not an option.
Good Comfortable Hotel
shark939on 23/05/2017 16:28Good hotel away from the centre of Takayama but shuttle available. Rooms spacious, comfotable bed and great shower. Room had a view towards the alps. Hotel had a free onsen. Outside section of onsen several varying hot pools and great views. Evening meal buffet with a choice mainly of Japanese/Chinese food with good selection of beef, pork, chicken. Breakfast good.
