Room 8 very disapointing
Caroline Mon 29/07/2017 18:54We booked two nights at Astor House.
We were in the attic room, no.8.
Whilst the room and bed was definitely clean, the room overall was extremely drab and quite oppressive due to the sloping ceiling, dull decor and tired furniture.
Whilst we only used the room to travel to and from, it did take the edge off our visit to the area as we really didn't want to be in the room.
At £122 per night it really didn't feel like value for money (particularly as we stayed at a fabulous hotel in Bristol a few months ago for nearly half that price), and when travelling it's nice to have a nice hotel.
From what we saw of the other rooms they were larger and brighter, and would have got a very different score from us.
Staff were welcoming and the breakfasts were good with plenty on offer. Pleased that they had GF option and soya and almond milk available, so that was a definite bonus.
Walking distance to centre of Bath
LBJNrTunbridgeWellson 04/07/2017 15:08Lovely bed and breakfast in a quiet road, but within walking distance of the centre of Bath and also served by local buses.
Well decorated rooms, with hot drinks facility and also iron and iron board.
Good choice at breakfast, although the tables are very close together and not much space around the help yourself area.
Limited onsite parking but on the road parking is free.
Friendly owners.
Would recommend a stay here.
Lovely weekend away
Gary Son 25/06/2017 19:44Went To bath for the weekend last minute. A lovely hotel with lovely staff. A nice breakfast with gluten free for the other half. A short walk to bath centre but up hill on way back can be hard work. They're busses back if needed. They also provide a key ring that can give you small discounts on places in bath which is nice. Has good off road parking even for big cars. But can park on road for free.
Disappointed
Danielle Hon 10/06/2017 23:24Originally booked a different B&B but they had overbooked so we were offered this place as an alternative by booking.com. unlike other B&Bs I've stayed in there was no one to greet us. We went out twice and each time we returned there was no one there. The next morning for breakfast there was a few people serving us but we had no idea who they were...no interaction. When we paid there was no mention of the fact no one greeted us before.
The room was ok..it needed a bit of repainting. The bathroom lighting was very poor and it stank of rotten egg when we used the shower or flushed the toilet.
Lovely Stay!
Jason Don 05/06/2017 20:08Lovely guesthouse - good location, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and a very warm welcome!
We booked for a weekend to visit the Christmas market and weren't disappointed! We had an attic family room which was big and well equipped. The only downside was the lack of water pressure in the shower but it was bearable and overall, this wouldn't stop us visiting again!
