Anouschka Pon 25/08/2017 10:20Horrible experience. We were very unhappy because the bed was way too soft, this is fine to some people but we woke up with very sore backs. Plus there was no shower curtain, which created water everywhere. When we complained about this, the receptionist told us this is for hygenic reasons and they don't mind when the floor get completely wet. (But of course they don't care that your stuff gets soaked either...)
It got even worse when we entered the breakfast area, where a lady asked if we booked breakfast. Then we said: no we would just like two coffees. She said: that's fine, have a seat, you don't have to pay for it.
On the checkout they demanded we paid for the two coffees. Which we of course didn't agree on but then he said: "just doing my job".

cosy hotel
andre3234on 16/08/2017 19:00Not a big hotel but a small (cheap) cosy one. Breakfast (€12 pppd) and parking (€6 pd) not included. Breakfast small sizes portions which we liked very much; so we could tast much home-made products (like the yoghurt) without eating to much for the whole day.
Room simple (all we needed) and very comfertable. The second night we didn't hear the sound of the city (trains, sirens) not any more, even with open window.
Cozy, conveniently located hotel Near everything in Ghent
Vereeken Hon 16/08/2017 15:56Astoria has become my favourite hotel to stay whenever I'm in Ghent. It has easy access to the city center and to the main motorways, located in a nice, quiet residential neighbourhood, and moderately priced. There is always parking space. The rooms are rather small and some rooms don't have a bathtub but only a small shower cabin. Also, sometimes the ventilation of the rooms proves to be insufficient to counter peaks of humidity.
Breakfast is a nice experience, inside as well as in the outside garden.
Personnel (among whom the owners) are extra friendly, it feels like coming home.

ABTrav43on 11/08/2017 16:16A lovely hotel near the train station in Ghent, with good bus links to the city centre.
In all the hotels I have stayed in, I have never been to one with such friendly and welcoming staff. I arrived early before check-in (around 9am) hoping to be able to leave my luggage, and they already had a room ready for me! The room was a good size, clean, and had everything I needed for my stay. The staff were very helpful in providing information about the city and the easiest ways to get to the centre.
The only downside is that breakfast is quite expensive for what it is, but overall a fantastic hotel - I'll definitely visit again next time I'm in Ghent!
Access the Flemish Golden Age
Oligarfon 10/08/2017 18:11Located close to the train station, several public transportation options are available. We also visited Bruges. Room clean and nice, though not particularly large. Staff/owners are very helpful to make a most of the visit. Very convenient all in all.
