We were fortunate enough to have a large room where three of the walls were floor to ceiling glass facing onto the street. The room was clean and well laid out with a massive bathroom and very nice shower. The bathroom is tucked behind a wall with no door and I know that for some families travelling on our Insight tour this was a little awkward, but it was fine for myself and my teenage daughter.
Being at the front of the hotel we did not have any problem with noise from the street and slept well.
The breakfast buffet was nice and had a stunning outlook.
There is a coop supermarket just around the corner which is handy and a fun place to look at the different products on offer. The location is great.
I would like to come back here again.

Centrally located

Astoria is very close to the Lucerne station. Has couple of very good restaurants. The Thai restaurant in really authentic and nice. Rooms are spacious by European standard.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

U have a nightclub right across the street

I stayed here with a group of students and adults. I was the group leader, so I saw multiple rooms.
The location was excellent--we were about a 5 minute walk from the historic area/bridge. The local area was safe--there was a bank/ATM just down the street.

Mostly, everyone was happy with the hotel. I will say that since we were a group, we were in what seemed to be a separate building. We did not have the pretty lobby, instead we entered into a very small area of elevators. We had to use our room key to access the floors that our rooms were on. This is probably for security measures so that any person from the street cannot access the hotel rooms, but can still get to the rooftop bar.
My room was a single room, and it was very plain, minimalist. I had a window behind my headboard that looked directly into the next door building. Needless to say, I had to keep my curtains closed! My son and his 2 roommates had a corner room because it was a triple---their room had windows to the streets below--great views. So that room was really nice!
The bathroom and shower were very clean and nicely tiled. There was hot water, nice towels and very wonderfully scented body wash, soap and lotion.
Breakfast was included for us and it was very good. There were plenty of options and choices.
A group of adults went to the rooftop bar on our last night--the views over the city are very nice and the atmosphere was quite pleasant. There were no rowdy, party-type people, just gatherings of people enjoying a drink and the views. It was very pleasant and relaxing. Prices are not cheap,though!
I would certainly stay here again if I were in Lucerne in the future.

Central hotel

The hotel is in a central place. It is modern looking, but it could do with some maintenance. We had two rooms. One of the rooms had a real bad smell, so we did ask for another room. They immediate gave us another one ! No issue ! The hotel has a real nice bar on the toproof with beautifull view on the city. Breakfast was nice and more then enough choises... realy good, too much... the restaurants of the hotel : high standard, but expensive. ( we tried la cucina) Gym was tooo small and moist a real petty.

The hotel is an easy walk from the Central Station, Old Town, and the covered bridged. The staff members were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was excellent with lots of different choices. There is also a rooftop bar that is a lovely place to have a drink before or after dinner. Generally the hotel is very comfortable and quiet and I loved the built in reading lights.
