Very good ryokan
thomas gon 18/08/2017 13:34Very good ryokan in the city center close to all touristic activities. People are nice and service is perfect. If you can do it for one night at least. We loved it and in particular the onshen public and private !!!
Elegant and gracious ryokan
jpjpjpjpjon 17/08/2017 21:15This ryokan met all of our expectations and more. Our room was delightfully large with new tatami mats and an enclosed deck overlooking the 5-story Kofukuji temple across the way. The kaseki breakfast included cooking your own salmon on a hibachi, along with multiple other courses. All beautifully prepared and presented.
The hospitality was special, including providing a car and driver to our restaurant of choice when there was no availability in the restaurant for dinner.
I highly recommend Wai'Oli restaurant. It is in a Nara House and serves excellent sushi, tempura, and sake. The chef (husband) is from Hawaii and his wife is Japanese but went to school in Florida. So, they clearly speak English. Vegetarian also works here.
Make certain to read up on staying in a ryokan (it's formality) so you'll know what to expect.
Additionally, the location is easily walkable to most sites.

Jamal Hon 16/08/2017 09:42Nice Japanese Style rooms, clean, very good staff, good onsen with views to the nearby Kōfukuji temple 5-Story Pagoda, good onsen, I recommend for an overnight stay.

Pearl Pon 05/06/2017 15:36We stayed here near the end of my 2.5 week trip in Japan. This was our 2nd Ryokan, and unfortunately was not as good as our first one. The room is very big and spacious, the biggest on our trip. The service at front desk was pleasant, they stored our luggage and brought them to our room when returned to check in. The furniture however was dated, carpets in hallway were stained and same in the room. The public bath was ok and quite small. We didn't bother renting the private bath as it cost $ 35.00 to rent for 40 minutes. The dinner was served in the room was only average, the course meal was delivered all at once, and we didn't feel that this was served well. At our other ryokan, there were explanations for each dish and the servers were more sociable. What we do fondly remember however at this place was the mochi that was served with tea when we were shown to our room. It was one of the best mochi that I had on my trip.
The breakfast was served in a hall with other guests dining at the same time, and again wasn't that intimate. If I hadn't been another ryokan, I may have rated this higher.
It is in a great location, located in walking distance to deer park and all the attractions.
Too expensive for what you get
Carolina Hon 17/05/2017 17:45The room we had was big and luminous but the toilet and shower room needed an urgent upgrade. Comparing this ryumeikan with the one we stayed in Tokyo...sadly this one wasn´t worth the money.
Reception staff very friendly.
A few steps from the hotel is the new Tourist Center where you can rent bikes and have origami classes.
Nara is a beautiful city and cycling around is a very easy.
The rooftop honten has a beautiful view to the five storied pagoda.
