Hotel seems a little bit in the middle of nowhere, but actually is close to the nice village of Mylopotamos and has beautiful views over the sea and the countryside.
The premise is modern. Rooms are quite wide clean. Breakfast no more than average in category. Family staff is warm and keen to help guests.

I spent a week on the island and at Athena's hotel. Everything was ideal; the room is super clean and comfortable. The bed mattress is divine - you will get a perfect rest after swimming in the crystal sea of Kythira. Athena & her husband are the most accomodating, warm and genuine people. They were always helping us with suggestions on where to swim, where to eat, what to see, which route to walk from. Athena is also an excellent cook! The breakfast keeps you full for the day until you enjoy a traditional Greek dinner. She uses fresh ingredients and she is always there to ask you if you want more!! We loved the location and the view - peaceful scenery. We toured the whole island and I think we picked the best location to stay- Mylopotamos waterfalls and the path along the water mills is a must-see. The restaurants have also quality local food and Kalami, an amazing beach is very close. I absolutely recommend it! You will definitely want to go back- just as we do.

WOW! Totally unexpected, natural beauty, hospitality, cleanliness, great food, happy friendly people everywhere 😆😆😆😆
We had the best Souzoukakia ever! (Including my own) on the beach.
Our accommodation at Hotel Athena was super clean, high on top of a mountain in the middle of Kythira, 5 - 20 min drives to many beautiful private beaches, caves, an amazing waterfall, supermarket with everything, shops & markets.
Very easy to drive all around the Island with a feeling as if you are a local. Only scary part was some of the roads are very narrow.
The people of Kythira are so warm & friendly. I was a Groomsmaid for 2 of my dear friends Jak & Terry in Kythira. A long with many other Aussies that flew in for the wedding was Therese, John & Miranda Kerr with boyfriend Evan Spieling. What more could a gorgeous couple ask for. We took over the Hotel, Athena , Panayotis & George the owners couldn't of been more accommodating if they tried. Nothing eas to much trouble gorgeous people & we would go back to visit, & young man who helped us with everything, had a huge smile every day & worked at the local taverna in Melapotamos he's name Ledi. They would be part of the reason why we will return to Kythira.
Our tip for all... hire a car, mix with the locals & have an amazing time 🌞

Warm and friendly stay

The hotel is beautifully presented in a quiet location just outside Milopotamos. You have views over the sea toward Peleponsisos. The staff are warm and friendly. On the isalnd of Kythira you are centrally located and it is an easy drive to beaches and historic churches around the island

A Perfect stay

I had a Great time. The location is beautiful, the town Mylopotamos maybe the cutest town on the entire island. The location is pretty much in the middle of the island and you can easy drive in all directions. A car is a must. The hotel is very nice, great breakfast that can be taken in the room, very accommodating personnel, clean and a superb view. Enjoy the sunset from your balcony :) at night you can walk from the hotel in the little town of Mylopotamos, they have great tavernas and a wonderful atmosphere, including some wine and snacks tavernas. You can also visit the waterfalls ......beaches are all over the island, but again, you need a car. My favorite beach is close to agia Pelagia, Laggouda Beach. Great beach bar with excellent DJ....80's music.
