emjane22on 19/06/2017 10:59We stayed at Althenas for five nights in June, the room was basic but met our needs. We were upgraded to a room with a fridge free of charge which we were really grateful for as we could store water which was a life saver in the heat!! The room was clean, and the shower was lovely and powerful though if you had it on full power you were attacked by the shower curtains! The walls are very thin and we were woken by the man in the next room snoring and you can hear talking very easily. The reception staff were always really helpful and helped us visit a doctor and even spoke to them in Spanish for us so they new what we were visiting for. The hostel is about 20 minutes out of the centre depending where you get off but easily accessible via the metro which is a 5-6 minute walk from the hostel. We used the t10 travel card which is 10euros and allows you 10 journeys, we found this the easiest way of getting around with a toddler and buggy!! And travel cost us 30euros for the week for the three of us. Overall we had a nice stay at the hostel, there was always a bit of a sewage smell but we expect this is more to do with Barcelona's system overall rather than the hostel itself.

Safi Hon 25/07/2016 23:37Clean rooms, very friendly reception!!! Very quite neighborhood, nearby cafes, shopping area and supermarkets with a lot of locals and close to the beach!
Recommended for those who are looking for less crowded places, bus and metro stops close to it and you will enjoy the place!

Татьяна Бon 16/05/2016 19:33It located in a quiet area. There is around 300m to subway station. Room service every day. It is a lot of big stores around such as LIDL and some other. The new one is just opposite the hostal. I liked this hostal. My best recomendations !!!!!!!
Ideal for budget traveling
cupcakemonsteron 23/10/2015 11:59Very good hotel. Located little bit far from city center but very well connected with underground. Rooms are big enough and clean. What I liked the most is quiet and safety of neighborhood. Also, near the hotel are bakery and grocery stores. Unfortunately, they are closed at Mondays so keep that on your mind. We did not have problems with room keys or check-in. Staff is polite and the only bad thing was terrible wifi connection. All in all - hotel is great for cheap stay in Barcelona.
Cozy rooms for shot visits
Priya8706on 27/09/2015 18:04The Hotel is pretty decent for a vacation in Barcelona. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was well equipped with clean towels, hair dryer (on request), hand wash and a door mat. However, the Wifi was not satisfactory in the room. You could connect to the Wifi while in the lobby, but corner rooms on the third floor has low or no wifi in the room. Most of the previous reviews said that the magnetic key does not work most of the time. However, if you follow the instructions of the receptionist, it works just fine. Keep the key away from cell phones, ipods, tablets etc and the magnet remains unaffected. So if you are wanting to spend more of touring and eating, this hotel reduces the accommodation cost, thus adding more budget to your sightseeing.
