Friendly Staff & In the Heart of La-Chaux-de Fonds
jgitcaron 14/06/2017 17:00I was recently here on a business trip, and had a wonderful experience at this hotel.
The hotel is conveniently located right off the main street, and is within walking distance of many restaurants and bars, as well as the train and bus stations.
The decor of the hotel is very traditional, and has much more personality than the generic look of most hotel chains.
The breakfast offering is also wonderful - a large selection of both hot and cold offerings in a room overlooking the main street of town.
The staff was very friendly, and everyone I spoke to knew English. I had purchased the wrong power converter for Switzerland, and they loaned me one for my entire stay.
The hotel does lock up at night, so if you are planning on making it a late night out on town, plan ahead.
An elegant and stylish hotel in the centre of La Chaud de Fond
Geraldine Son 24/05/2017 16:39This hotel is on Ave. Leopold Robert a short walk from the main Railway station. Parking is also available for guests at no extra charge.
Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Julian. The hotel is reminiscent of a grander era, with real keys for the door, wifi available and breakfast at a separate charge.
Our room was spotless, very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. We have been to La Chaud de Fond on previous occasions however the hospitality and friendliness of this hotel was genuine and appreciated.
Charming!
AMCTheJetSetteron 09/02/2017 14:45This hotel is old fashioned and charming. The room key is one of those antique "skeleton" types that made me feel like I went back in time. The room decor is reminiscent of the mid-20th century. There are examples of "trompe de l'oeil" painting around the hotel that at first you don't notice, but then you realize with delight.
The staff is pretty small and they get to know you if you are there for a few days. They are all pretty fluent in English and other languages.
There is a breakfast buffet on the mezzanine floor (the rooms that start with 1 are actually on the third floor), in the hotel's bar area. It's a small but adequate buffet, with cooked eggs, breakfast meats, cheese, breads, yogurt, etc. The bar is a comfortable place to sit and look out the windows at the busy town.
On one of the upper floors there is a sauna, which I never got to try, but the staff will turn it on upon request.
The only reason I didn't give this a 5-rating is that it does not have a restaurant. The one adjoining the lobby had closed down and the space was for lease during my stay. On cold rainy winter days it would be nice to have a restaurant right there. Having said that, there are several good places to eat within a short walk from the hotel. The location is good, close to the train station, a shopping mall and the downtown commercial area.
My room had a king bed, a sitting area and desk by the window. The bathroom was up-to-date and had a good shower. There is a flat-screen TV with a few English channels.
a few minutes walk from the rail and bus station
Mike Won 13/05/2016 00:27Walk out of the front of the railway station to the main street, turn right and after a couple of blocks you will have arrived. I had a very nice corner room on the 3rd floor at the back which was quiet, comfortable, clean and well appointed. Staff are friendly and helpful. I didn't sample breakfast so cannot comment. It's close to bars and restaurants in the town. Good hotel and will stay here again when I visit.
People friendly, breakfast great, accommodations OK
jeffreyhunton 30/04/2016 19:31The staff were generally friendly in most cases, but overall service is light. The breakfast is complete, healthy, and tasty. The breakfast location was cozy with a morning fire each day.
The room I had was very small, but clean. The toiletries that most hotels provide were not very good. My colleague warned me to bring my own shampoo and soaps, which I would pass on to other travelers. Most importantly, the walls are paper thin and at times you may wonder if they even exist. Not so great when trying to get over jet lag and craving sleep.
As a business traveler trying to communicate back home at night, I found the Wifi to be terrible. It seems common these days in many European hotels to provide free Wifi, but it is actually more frustrating when it doesn't work. Even having an upgraded option would have been helpful for any business traveler.
Note to North American travelers - the parking is free, but very small. Not really different for this hotel, but don't get a jumbo vehicle.
