Atholl Palace Tay Lodges

Lovely semi detached lodge, one en suite , 2 singles and a double with separate shower room. Very warm heating and good standard of equipment for self catering.

Play park and 50acres to walk around in. We went out at dusk and saw deer, bats, owls, pheasants.

The hotel facilities are fantastic, swimming, tennis, putting.

A wonderful relaxing retreat.

Really disappointed

We booked a 3 night weekend deal. This was described as a modern 4 star 3 bed with flat screen/iPod dock etc. What we actually received was a sad and tired 4 bed which reminded me of a student house (Ben y ghlo) I would say this would be 2 star at the moment in terms of decor and condition of lodge. The furniture was scruffy and in poor condition and the facilities poor (there is no point trying to cook as the pans are all falling apart and the cooker does not work properly either)

There are no modern amenities for example wifi and the lodge was freezing in places and roasting in others. The worst was the curtains which are thin and cheap and do not keep the early morning light out (a nightmare if you have children)

Bitterly disappointed with the whole experience. I mentioned this to reception upon check out (we left 1 night early as we felt better off in the comfort of our own home) and they said to contact the general manager. The girl on reception also agreed the lodge was in major need of a refit and suggested we book a 3 bed next time - which I believe we did this time!! I did this and received a completely unsatisfactory response of "If you stay again we will give you a discount". This is not appropriate given the known issues with this lodge.

The play park and main hotel seemed nice and we visited the pool a few times. A word of warning though I had a facial and it was very poor quality - the girl yawned throughout and gave a real sense that she couldn't be bothered. It was more of a greasy pat on the face than a proper facial.

stayed three nights in this very nice studio apartment with paved patio looking out onto woods. large lounge/bedroom with sofa and coffee table then on the lower level a large fully equipped kitchen/diner and large bathroom. everything was clean and comfortable but could get noisy early in the morning with vans making deliveries to the kitchens at the back of apartment

Served it's purpose

We booked a 2 bedroom lodge for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding at the hotel.
On arrival our lodge was ready early which was handy as a 4pm check-in is quite late. The reception staff were efficient and pleasant,
On arrival at the lodge we noted that it was upstairs and was reached by a metal staircase which was quite rusty.
Once in the lodge we saw that there was a double bedroom with bunk beds which my kids said were comfy enough but they were a bit rickety so if one of them turned over in the night the other was woken as the whole structure moved. This room had an en suite with shower. The main bathroom was an ok size but had no window so was a bit dingy however I was happy with the towels which were white and good quality. The second bedroom was again an ok size and had a comfortable double bed with good quality linens, the cupboard in this room housed an iron and board as well as a hoover. There was also a lounge/dining/kitchen area which was adequate.
Over all the lodge served it's purpose but it can only be described as tired and in serious need of an upgrade from the carpets up. I'd say it was ok for the 2 nights we were there as we spent very little time in the lodge other than sleeping but I wouldn't choose them again until an upgrade had been completed

Lovely lodge

I went with my husband and 2 other couples for a weekend in July. The lodge was well equipped for self catering and was clean and comfortable. The decor and carpets looked slightly tired. But this did not detract from out experience. The palace was stunning and the grounds lovely and well maintained. There is a play park and trampoline on site for kids. The spa facilities were all available to us but we were out and about a lot so didn't get the chance to use them. I would recommend this for couples and families we had a lovely time.
