Staff pleasant – hotel (room) passed caring!

The reception staff were very pleasant on our arrival and had arranged our airport transfers (about £8 each way - although I was led to believe that the transfer was 'included') in advance. The driver could not speak a word of English but the receptionist was very good.
The hotel entrance was large and impressive, although clearly aging in appearance. Some previous reviews mentioned that rooms were quite tired-looking – I would say that ours had fallen to sleep!
On the second floor, looking out to a waste area and the luxurious Marriot, we found our room to be small and uncared for. Furniture was old (nothing too wrong with that) but…falling apart. The wardrobe doors were a work of art to keep on the runners; the room safe was a broken, well..smashed actually, just sitting on the floor below the mini bar – which was actually just an old fridge. There was a kettle, no cups; coffee; tea or anything else for that matter, and it was necessary to reach down behind the fridge to replace another plug to make it work. A pillow case and the bed under-sheet were torn but in the shower room we did manage to sort-out the sliding doors so that shower water did not just spray out, drenching the floor. Having said that the room was clean and, amazingly, we had a really good nights’ sleep!
The hotel boasted the provision of bathrobes but my wife and I found no robes and only one pair of slipper to share.
Wifi, included in the room price, was acceptable and then a h-u-g-e (old bulky affair) television did have the English News Channel (contrary to other reviews) after mastering the instructions of using the different remotes and then scrolling through 80 other channels.
The restaurant was very reasonable priced eg. Just £7 for a four course buffet. Serve-your-self / Eat-all-you-can: A limited offering but hot, nicely presented and very tasty. Beef, and also duck, were particularly good. Water and tea/coffee were included. Breakfast, with again a limited offering, was also very reasonable: Very few cereals, and then only displayed in a couple of small dishes; tinned fruit; Yoghurts; some hot dishes, and so on.
Of course we were disappointed in the room but my wife & I felt that the other examples quoted helped raised the level of my overall grading and, for the comparatively non-tourist area, presented a reasonable example.

Room and amenities are of standard level, not the best but also not so bad, acceptable. Warm and clean room, bathroom. Generally each time I stay in this hotel I like it and I want to come back again to this hotel.
Breakfasts and dinners are open buffet and wonderful. We also got used to come for business lunches sometimes and realized that more and more people are coming to the hotel restaurant to have lunch or dinner.
Location of the hotel is also number one and is in the center.

Very speedy check in. Rooms are fairly basic but clean and tidy. Ordered room service but was lukewarm. There are a large amount of English speaking guests yet the TV does not have any English speaking channels. There is wifi in the rooms but I did not use. The staff were fairly friendly. Easy and quick check out.

Rooms are fairly spacious and a bit tired, but are kept clean. The food in the restaurant is very plain and not of a great standard. The hotel does however benefit, at this time of the year, from having an outside patio bar which is popular with residents and locals alike. Meals can be purchased here, straight off the barbecue/grill and these are of a reasonable standard.

Friendly stuff might make it up for poor quality

the rooms are shabby, the carpet is worn out, the furniture is about 15 years old. cleaning service is very bad, they could leave someone else's hair on the sink right into your face, they will not clean your room until it is 2 p.m. even though the check out time is 12 p.m. and check in is only at 3 p.m. it is very hot in the rooms in the winter, the air conditioning doesn't work. breakfast is ok. if you can afford a little more expensive hotel please do to avoid staying in this one.
