Basic but comfortable room. GREAT dinner
nw05250on 07/06/2017 21:00Located some 30 km outside of Calais this is the prefect place to stay en route to wherever you are going if you want to avoid the mess that Calais is. Accommodation is basic but the ambience and atmosphere of the establishment make up for that. So does the dinner which was ridiculously good. I mean - REALLY good.
A Great Stop Over
scoutstigon 30/09/2016 11:27A super, quirky little stop over in N France, dog friendly too. The restaurant was very good despite us confusing them by being vegetarian! The family room was small but worked well for the four of us.
A unique hotel set over a river & delicious meals!
Mojito12on 26/08/2016 07:53The hotel is actually a very old mill & is built over a very fast flowing, but narrow river - which we could look into from the lounge area, which was quite large. The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful and happily explained the menu to us - despite our lack of French. Our evening meal was truly delicious - as was the breakfast. Our room was large, but basic and our bathroom was large and had a lovely deep bath. The surrounding countryside was extremely pretty and we loved our stay.
a good option for a first stop through france
happy1966on 17/06/2016 11:23We picked this hotel as a first stop option after the chunnel and will probably use it again since it is better value for money than most calais hotels and is also dog friendly. There are plenty of nearby walks and we like to get away from the more touristy areas.
The location worked for us since it was just a stop off. It is secluded and sits on a river so all in all a good setting and the accommodation feels reasonable for the price.
The downside for us was that the food is not at the standard of other places and the rooms were a bit stuffy. the owners were very friendly but seemed stretched at times so we had to wait a while at times for drinks.
TRANQUIL AND GOOD VALUE
Mike941on 05/06/2016 20:11A bit out of the way in an old mill this little Auberge is ideal for a tranquil break. Don't expect luxury, the rooms are fairly basic but clean, and beds are comfy. No TV, but the sound of the adjacent river is a nice background! We enjoyed an evening meal from a short but nice menu - all served by the Patron who seemed to do almost everything himself! Good value, and just half an hour away from the Tunnel. Its an old building with quite a few steps which could be difficult for some
