What People are saying

A clean and tranquil place

tijeanyaon 04/05/2017 11:30

Located in a remote area of Rome, this B&B is ideal for people who want to relax and enjoy a peaceful environment. At the same time, however, it is quite difficult to get around the area by public transport because there is only one bus route and the bus runs every 20 minutes on working days. Alternatively, you can call a cab; there is a taxi station just off the road. You can grab something to eat from a sport centre nearby or, if you like, you can have food delivered to your room.
The room itself (the green one) was quite cozy and clean with basic toiletries and fresh towels. The bathroom was clean but the fan was a little noisy.
Modest choice of food and drinks for breakfast.
Friendly staff, average service.

Roam around the houses

This accommodation is more than a little out in the suburbs than we expected but, as far as we could see, links to the centre of Rome were good, and there were two restaurants locally. So this immaculately-kept house, surrounded by gates and hedges , was a pleasure to return to from an, at times, shabby and neglected Rome. The likeable host, Paolo, is a fitness fanatic with his own garden gym, but when he is not on the treadmill he is a little weak on helping with your bags, and a bit dizzy about the local geography. When we asked which of the two local restaurants he would recommend, he was genuinely non-plussed. `There were no restaurants locally' he said. A 30 Euro taxi to the Vatican City was called for. Paolo needs to get out more. When we showed him on Trip Advisor that there were two restaurants in the next street he was flabbergasted. We would later dine in both.

When it came to getting into Rome, a bus on the corner was the way to go, he advised. Not if you were in a hurry to see the sights, it wasn't. It meant a 30 minutes roam around the houses of the vicinity, en route to a Metro stop and another 20 minutes to the centre. It was unquestionably cheap, but what Paolo never thought to mention was that just over his hedge was a railway station which would have done the trick in 15 minutes, albeit at greater cost. The local taxi drivers also had the Paolo problem. When we asked them to take us to Valle Aurelia station for the train that would take us to Bracciano (our next port of call) they affirmed to a man - and I believe genuinely - that no such train went from that station. They were wrong. How the Romans found their way to Britain, I'll never know.

A dream holiday

I must share my experience of the superb stay I enjoyed at Aurelia Garden Gold B & B, Rome, recently. I landed at 8:30 p.m. without my checked-in baggage, but a safe taxi pick up was arranged and Paolo helped me with all the small things I needed for the night. The room was comfortable, and tastefully decorated. The place is very professionally managed and has a quaint café where Paolo serves fresh and tasty breakfast. The very special highlight of the stay was the luxurious spa available on the premises. It more than compensates for the distance from the city centre. The B & B is well connected by bus and metro and is strongly recommended for anyone out on a vacation to Rome.
