What People are saying

Aurora Inn shines bright!

This was my first time in Dawson City and was excited to visit. We decided to stay an overnight and chose the Aurora Inn based on previous reviews on here, as well as local Yukoners who have visited up there.

We were picked up at the airport by Steve (In his Yukon SUV), We had a nice chat on the way to the Inn about our Prairie roots/upbringing and he pointed out a few facts about the "city" and surrounding land. We landed mid morning and I was quite impressed he told us our room was one of the first to be cleaned and we could check in when we got there. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. Dawson's roads are unpaved/gravel so you have to take your shoes off once you enter which might be a hassle for some but not for us. It helps them keep it clean and those with allergies happy.

Lots of reading material in the lobby, coffee and tea as well.

The restaurant attached to the inn has amazing food for reasonable prices. We were there on a special night and Schnitzel was the main dish. It was delicious! They also have a European style breakfast in the AM (Which i didn't get to try unfortunately)

You can tell the owners take pride in their property and guests. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Really great except one thing

There are so many great things about this hotel. The management and staff are super friendly. They remember who you are and what you talked about. The rooms are spotlessly clean, partially because you remove your shoes when you come in the entrance. There is a fantastic shared area with large refrigerator and everything you could possibly need for kitchen cooking. There are also tables to sit in the common area as well as sofas and reading material. There is no refrigerator in your room, so you use the big shared refrigerator downstairs.

My room was surprisingly big. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was just fine.

There is only one problem – and I have to mention it because I am always honest in my reviews. My room was too hot. Even though outside I needed a long sleeve or even a jacket, my room was too hot. My room did not have air conditioning. It had two fans which I kept running. There was only half a window that would open so there was diminished ability to cool off the room. Because the room was hot, I didn't want to spend any time there. I also had difficulty sleeping in the heat.

Another thing that happened was the showerhead (that is the removable type on a hose) fell down onto my head when I was taking a shower. It fell from a height such that it really hurt when I hit my head. It left a little bump. When I figured out what happened, I could tell that the showerhead was only delicately anchored above. The hose seems entirely too long for a stand up shower.

The other bummer is that breakfast is not included.

I would've easily given this rating five stars and loved it if my room would've been cooler. Everything else at this hotel was fantastic except my room was too hot.

Beautiful

Wonderful and amazingly clean and beautiful. A diamond for sure. Bright and cheerful on the outside and beautiful and homey on the inside. We will return hopefully next year!!!! Just off the Main Street so away from the small amount of traffic but walking distance to everything including Klondike Kate's and Diamond Tooth Gurdys

Great hotel and restaurant

Very nice hotel and restaurant in the small city. We had one of the 2 outside room and had a coffee maker in the room which was clean and spacious. The owners have pride in their property. No shoes in the main building is a good idea. Bathroom was clean with good amenities and internet was very good, especially for this small place. The restaurant was the nicest that we saw in the area and enjoyed our dinner. There is a kitchen area with microwave and fridge in the main hotel.Highly recommend this place.

Welcoming and comfortable

This is not a historic building but is 'in the style'. The rooms are comfortable and well equiped. Staff are friendly and helpful giving good information about local attractions. One of the best features it the well equiped 'guest kitchen'. Good coffee always available, a toaster, microwave and large fridge which allowed us to prepare our own breakfasts and lunch which is really good considering the price of food in Dawson. Just beware bunches of grumpy, pushy German tourists who also seem to like the place but seem oblivious to the rights of everyone else.
