Live like a local
Longworthson 11/07/2017 10:39We wanted to live like a local and this was perfect. It's set among some old buildings, but I think was fairly recently built to match the old original style. Likewise the furniture looks old but is designed that way. Our room was small, you could even say tiny, as there was hardly any space around the bed, but it had a kitchenette, couch, table, access to the courtyard and thankfully very effective airconditioning. The bedding was comfy, no noise from other guests, no traffic noise. We felt quite at home (despite the size). Nothing is a far walk and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would definitely be happy to stay again.
Fantastic Place to Stay in Avignon
Jkamienskion 27/06/2017 13:16On the recommendation of a friend of mine, I chose to stay at this wonderful, self catering location. Sabine could not be more helpful and my room, the Duplex with the courtyard access, was fantastic. Given that it was 100 degrees during my stay the A/C certainly was a blessing. And it's incredibly quiet which after a more raucous location in Paris was sorely needed. The decor is wonderful, and the location is fantastic and safe. I highly recommend Autour for even an overnight. You will not find more helpful people or a better location IMHO in Avignon.
Lovely boutique apartments
Peter Son 24/06/2017 11:39We loved our recent six night stay at Autour du Petit Paradis as a base for exploring Avignon and the surrounding area of Provence. The apartments are located in a restored centuries old building ten minutes walk from the train and bus station in the old town. The room was very comfortable and the kitchenette allowed us to self-cater. There was a lovely courtyard. The wifi and air conditioning were effective. The food market and the supermarket are a few minutes walk from the hotel. Everything in the old town is within walking distance.
Our room was up a narrow staircase which was not a problem for us but ask for a ground floor room if you have any mobility concerns.
We were welcomed by the owner who gave us lots of assistance with bus timetables and other tourist information. She was very helpful.
We would recommend Petit Paradis and will stay again if we visit Avignon in the future.
Excellent self catering option
669adriennewon 23/06/2017 08:28This review has been a long time coming. We stayed here in March 2016 for three nights. It was a last minute booking that we made directly with the apartment owners. The process was smooth and they emailed through excellent directions for arrival and tips for our stay in Avignon.
I'll admit to being a bit apprehensive on our arrival. The booking was last minute for a ground floor studio facing the street. Something we would normally not book. I thought it would be noisy. But, after travelling around from hotel to hotel I really wanted a self catering option so we crossed our fingers.
Our stay was lovely. We were met by Patrick who ran us through dining options in the town and then let us get settled (get his tips as things can be a bit expensive and he has great local knowledge for where to find things at your price point). Throughout our stay they were unobtrusive - there if we needed but made sure we had our space.
The apartment was just what we wanted. It might have been a ground floor apartment facing the street but it was quiet and it was lovely to laze around in the morning with our breakfast or in the afternoon after a day spent out.
If you are looking for a self catering option I would recommend this. We found dining out in Avignon a bit expensive and having access to a kitchen was very helpful. It's also great to not have to get out of your PJs in the morning to get coffee. Another tip - the Carrefour in Avignon was excellent and good value for money.
Accommodations
Tiffany Fon 20/06/2017 01:07Avignon was the third stop on our travels. I found this gem through an on-line travel site but decided to book directly with the hotel (highly recommend, because this will save the vendor the commission they would otherwise pay out to am on-line booking company and you some money too!). The accommodations were perfect! If you have traveled in Europe before, you know that the hotel rooms tend to be small. Our accommodations were a one-bedroom apartment, which allowed my husband and I plenty of space. The bedroom is small, but the bed is ample size for two people. The bathroom is perfect and has everything you would need. The kitchen was also perfectly equipped (microwave, dishes, sink, refrigerator, small stove-top, utensils, etc) and the living room looked out onto tranquil courtyard. It is very quiet, clean, has air conditioning and the location is ideal for sightseeing. As Americans, we tend to be spoiled, and this place did not disappoint! Patrick & Sabine are very warm and hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed for the best stay possible. We were grateful for this wonderful retreat and would recommend it to anyone!
