Beata Non 12/08/2016 10:36I found the information that is a 4 star hotel. I do not know in which years had these 4 stars. There is a pool, a sauna, but otherwise the hotel does not offer anything. The rooms are terrible. Bed linen damaged, dirty carpets, bathrooms in a deplorable state. Breakfast buffet for very modest. At the reception they are issued some coupons for breakfast- defeat. Scandal is that the cleaning staff all the time noise and the rooms are not ready on time. On first impression the hotel looks good but once you come inside is no longer good. The price is not adequate to the standard. In a few meters is private guest house - and it is better then hotel.
Nice and clean hotel with indoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness area
otten4on 30/07/2016 10:43Hotel Lochmuehle is a nice hotel in a quiet setting along the river Ahr. The rooms are clean and have been remodelled as it looks. The beds are okay. There are more types of rooms depending on the floor. The top floor rooms (directly under the roof) are the smallest. Rooms are not airconditioned and are sometimes very warm in the summer. Lobby and bar area are nice and there is also an outside terrace. Wifi reception is poor in certain ares of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is good but refill sometimes a little late. We had halfboard with dinner buffet (meat and fish selection, salad, potatoes or pasta, yogurt, fruit etc.). A la carte menu is also available. Very friendly staff.
5 nights with a large party of adult friends
lex Aon 26/07/2016 18:17We stayed here for 5 nights, we were traveling to Nurburgring track every day and this was our only choice in the region that was available. Beware, the hotel has two sections one is very old and decor is poor, while the other new section was built in 2014 so i assume is better quality although rooms are a bit smaller they told me. We got no choice even though we booked 3 months prior, so check this before you book. This is a traditional Old German hotel, lots of quirks and part of the charm - it is not modern throughout, Stairs at entrance to reception.
The rooms we all stayed in were Comfort Rooms, (think 1970's with bright orange wall paper and hideous tiled bathrooms) a little bit grubby. Hairdryers are not good. Nice balcony but no lights outside.
No Air conditioning
Beds are comfy, pillows are very flat, even with two it was too flat - take your own.
Rooms are spacious with small sofa and nice balconies facing the forest ( but lots of moths and flying insects in your room at night if you leave the door / window open )
TV only has German channels = 5 channels or so
Parking is about 50 meters past the hotel on the left, NO SIGN for this
Restaurant area is separate across the road, food is excellent. Staff are friendly.
Breakfast is cold buffet european style, no choice of hot food, boiled or fried eggs only, dont ask for a poached one !! Get there early about 8 ish for the best breads, as it gets busy.
Bar area closes early around 11pm.
Local village restaurants have various opening times and most days were closed during day.
Lovely wine tasting at Winzergenossenschaft Mayschoß-Altenahr worth a visit - open till 6pm most days.
What a shame ...
Milan Ton 10/08/2015 08:52Room (400): extremely dirty, very old windows, color on wall falling down, dirty carpet, no curtain so that yo uwake up at 6:00 AM, other curtains in bad status, lift out of order. In short, this room should be closed for renovation, as simple as that.
Wellness: rather OK, but dirty towels, swimming pool very cold, window panes very dirty with spiderwebs (so have not been cleaned for ...).
Breakfast: OK except again dirty windows and spiderwebs.
Bar: forgot to give us free drink vouchers (Bongo).
Otherwise, very nice region, with plenty of trekking to do, nice restaurant at the hotel just next to Lochmuhle: jaegerstuebchen (superb view on the river, nice terrace and finally good atmosphere ...
This hotel should be 2 or max 3 stars, un-understandable. Quality/price ratio very low.
Perfect hotel for a couple of nights
Erik1964on 10/07/2015 13:18This hotel offers packages for very low prices. With that in mind, this hotel offers real value for money. We were in room 113, which was quite allright. The hotel is certainly not brand new and could use a general overhaul, but is nevertheless worth the money. The meal-deal is OK too: the breakfast buffet is very good and its daily dinner menu offers fresh food and up-tempo catering. The hotel is located 45 minutes from either Bonn and Koblenz, and the area of Mayschoss itself has several walking trails and cycling routes. Altogether a great weekend destination, as far as we are concerned.
