Perfect stay

Lovely city hotel in the new town but only a short walk to the much more touristy old town. Staff were lovely - warm and helpful as all the Cretans are. We had a suite which was huge - very modern with a great bathroom and spotlessly clean. Every room has a little balcony - a huge bonus in a town where private outside space is at a premium. Breakfast was great and there are a few tables outside in a little courtyard. The hotel has art deco touches too - we loved the cute little lift. Parking is free in the underground carpark below the hotel - but bear in mind it is a very tight squeeze so do not have a big car! Wifi worked well - the best we had on the trip as it was a bit patchy in some places. We chose this over some of the boutique options in the old town which were twice the price and didn't give us anywhere near as much space - we are really glad that we did. The hotel also accommodated us with a late check out allowing us to keep our room till 6pm for just 40 euros - this gave us the chance to go out all day and then come back and freshen up before sadly going off to the airport. Chania is definately worth an overnight stay - you will be glad you chose to spend the night when you get to see the glorious sunset over the Venetian harbour!

Relaxing Atmosphere

Outstanding first impression due to very hospitable staff. Great atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. The breakfast spread was delicious! Good assortment of breads, pastries, fruit juices, cheeses, etc. I am already looking forward to breakfast tomorrow. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review is the wifi in the room is not good enough to stream Skype video. From my experience so far, I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect city hotel

Avra City Hotel is conveniently situated close by to the Municipal Market of Chania, around all kinds of commercial shops, cafes, pharmacies, banks, boulangeries and 15 min walking from the old port.
Right next to the Municipal Garden of Chania that one should not miss because of the historical Kipos Cafe!
Standard rooms have WiFi, complimentary tea and instant coffee with cream and sugar available, mini bar at fair cost, and elegant furniture with comfortable beds.
Parking is available on the basement of the building and even though it is small it is convenient and necessary.
Breakfast has absolutely everything from espresso coffee to freshly made orange juice and from local pastries and delicacies to all kinds of fresh fruits.
Concierge is excellent! Either day or night shifts offer great advice and tips on the city.
I have stayed at many hotels around the city but this is the best for my business trips.

The hotel's best feature is its staff! The receptionists were welcoming, always gave us a warm greeting and answered all our questions with useful information in excellent English. The accommodation itself is clean, modern and has helpful extras like tea making facilities, fruit and water in the room, a safe, a balcony....Breakfasts were super and it was no bother to give us food early when we had a trip. The location is very central without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended.

Average Hotel

Very average hotel that offers basic WiFi, cable and a more modern room. Very European setup in terms of bed and small room. I would say that the cost is high in the downtown core of Chania and this is no different. Hiked prices for those that want to be within quick walking distance of market.

I provided a quick European breakfast that was mediocre. And the evening it provided a pay per meal dinner that was quite high and the price list to not be worth it as the inner harbour was of similar cost and has an amazing atmosphere compared to the closed in hotel restaurant.

This seemed to me to be more for an middle aged to older couple hotel. For single persons, I would not normally recommend it unless you have business downtown. It didn't feel very relaxing there.

People were polite and kind and that was a definite asset of this hotel. I had had a couple issues and they were extremely quick to respond and correct them. I very pleased with their positive attitude and that they asked for feedback to improve the hotels draw for customers. It doesn't help me but will help others down the road. I love a hotel always looking to improve!
