Beware of scams/double charge!
ERYNN2013on 18/04/2017 07:49We booked for 2 nights via booking.com.We also paid for the room when we arrived.Imagine our shock when we get message from Booking.com the next morning that hotel informed them that we never checked in!Our credit card by then had already charged for the 'No Show'booking! To get them cancel/refund the credit card was another run around with the front desk guy and the Supervisor as well..Even after i pointed out their mistake. They was no apology! They booked twon rooms under our names with the same booking.com number and pin code.I really think the Supervisor should have handled better or maybe its 'his'ploy to earn extra money for the hotel?!All in all, the room we got was in the 6th floor , was somewhat comfortable.Wifi was acceptable-we only used on the 1st day.We bought a data sim the next day.The bathroom needs some serius renovation n i found a cockroache too on the 2 day! Moreover ,I was astonished to see the water quality so bad in the morning too.Perhaps the piping have gone rusty because this hotel is really old hotel?!The view from balcony was that bad too-overlooking busy streets.Perhaps what made our stay somewhat comfortable was the breakfast. Our room came with breakfast for 2.We given option for American and Oriental. We chose American. It came with 4 toasted bread with omelette and 2 sausages along wih coffee/tea n juice.Kudos to the night staff named Abu Bakar for accomodating us and making our stay pleasant!
Clean, but Run-Down
TropicalDuckon 21/11/2016 17:30The staff was friendly and helpful. A half a dinar tip prompted the bell boy to bring clean pillow cases and fresh towels upon check in. (!)
There was a hair dryer, but don't know if it worked. Also, the two most important things in the room didn't function properly: the AC and the safe. The AC cooled the room, but at the same time leaked, creating a huge puddle of water between the bed and the closet. The TV set seemed to have come from some 70's sci-fi movie set. The WiFi was spotty.
Yes, the hotel is located in the Souq (behind Bahrain International/Gold Souq), so it's within walking distance from every Souq shop you can imagine, but at the same time "the action" in Bahrain has moved to other areas of the island. Still a pretty good deal for the rate.
Good hotel on central spot
TravelingJoey2014on 06/11/2016 12:39After 1,5 week of some serious backpacking in various countries with some really bad hotels (black water in the shower, fear of electrocution in the shower, no towels, no sheets, pillows that should be white under their cover but were actually greyish brown), this was a fine and clean hotel room to relax. Warm water, functioning AC, no power cuts and internet was working okay. We skipped breakfast, so I don't know if there was any. Hotel is in the city center, close to the souk and that historical gate in front of it. Also pretty close to some places to get a meal, drinks and some groceries. The bus station is nearby and is a good tip to safe some money if you want to go to the grand mosque or the airport. Hotel was very accommodating in terms of late check out and taking care of my luggage after checking out but having to wait hours and hours for my flight.
Old air-conditioning
Paul Con 31/08/2016 10:13The hotel was old, and so was the air-conditioning. It functioned well enough to relieve the summer heat of Bahrain but it was still not cool at all. (probably got down to 29 C, even though I set it lower)
A good budget hotel
Julz Con 18/05/2016 05:57The hotel's location is excellent; it is right in the middle of the city within close proximity to Manama souk. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was simple and delicious. For the price, it is a perfectly good option, with perhaps the only off-putting thing being the smell of smoke that hits you when you walk into the lobby. However, I appreciate that this is a cultural thing and just not what I'm used to. With the exception of that, my room was clean and well-presented. Unfortunately, there was building work being carried out directly across the road so the noise was extremely loud but obviously, that's not the hotel's fault. However, if you are planning a stay, you might want to ask for a room away from the street if construction is on-going. Overall, if you're looking for a hotel in a central location and you're on a budget, I wouldn't have any reason to suggest you don't book here.
