jenlou2015on 29/08/2017 08:51Clean room, good location - 10mins walk into the Main Street, excellent service from the friendly staff, breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We left before breakfast on the last day and they provided us with a breakfast bag full of goodies to take with us. Would stay there again.
Weekend in Edinburgh

I prefer small boutique hotels to big impersonal places, but I was left underwhelmed by this place. The transformation from a home built by for the owner of the Scotsman newspaper is tastefully done. Our room was under the eaves, scrupulously clean; the bathroom could have done with a refurb. Prices are high, but this is Edinburgh in late June. excellent location, close to the West End and lots of restaurants. Also very close to the 2 Galleries of Modern Art, which are a must to visit.
Great Hotel But Improvements Needed
AWandAJWon 20/08/2017 20:19We stayed at the hotel last week to visit the fringe and the Military Tattoo. What a great location, just 10 minutes walk from the railway station.
We stayed in room 10 which has a lovely view of the castle. The room was clean and comfortable and has everything you need for the stay. If I was being critical I would say that secondary glazing would improve the stay and greatly reduce the noise from outside.
We stayed for two nights and had breakfast on both occasions. Unfortunately the breakfast let the stay down. The cooked breakfast was only just warm, and we had to ask for everything, toast, milk for the tea etc. On the second day the experience was not much better, the staff seemed more interested in having their own food than serving the guests. It is a shame as apart from this the stay was good.
If the breakfast experience improved I would recommend the hotel and would stay again.

ralpho520on 17/08/2017 23:46My third Ed Fringe visit. So handy for key venues. Very well insulated re sound, so you can escape the festival madness and get a good sleep! breakfast is very generous and pretty varied with all the usual trimmings..including haggis.
Perfect base for enjoying Edinburgh
405annamichellehon 15/08/2017 18:20We had a lovely room with a beautiful view across the city. The room was larger than I had expected and spotlessly clean.
What I particularly liked about this hotel, it had everything you needed for a visit to this wonderful city with no unnecessary extras, such as gyms, salons, restaurant, bars, mini bars etc. At no time did we feel worried about extra room charges, marvellous. We even had an old fashioned key for our door. Simple comfort, but by no means basic.
Would love to stay here again.
