Perfect!
waldgreenon 12/08/2017 07:08Our cab driver had no problem getting us to this lovely hotel. It is in a perfect location for exploring this wonderful city. Our triple room was basic with plenty of room for our bags, etc. The breakfast was outstanding! One of the best ever in Europe. The staff is very friendly and we felt at home here. And the price was great! Wish we would have tried the restaurant in the front of the hotel.
Perfectly located and great value for money
feemsingon 27/02/2017 08:01Gasthaus Hotel Backmulde is perfectly located around the corner from the main shopping street in Heidelberg. Good value for money, even better than a large chain 4star hotel.Below a few plus/minor points:
Plus
Located around the corner from the mail shopping street in Heidelberg
Good breakfast (cold and warm)
Thick walls so no disturbing noise
Friendly and english speak staff
Good restaurants in the area
Good hotel for families (option for an extra bed in a room is possible - watch out for hotel sites where they try to push you to book two rooms as its not always necessary - contact hotel directly if you are in doubt)
Minus
Parking at location is limited (however, there is a public parking lot close by)
Hotel is not easy to reach by car when the shopping street is busy (one way road where hotel is located)
Great Location
peterodlon 23/02/2017 13:22Stayed here for two nights. It is a very well run hotel in the heart of Heidelberg. The building, after being twice rebuilt from destruction by French campaigns and a fire in 1689, the building now standing was once a brewery, a mechanical factory with workshops and served since 1926 besides as Guild house for the Bake masters of Heidelberg .
The room, a triple, was large and inviting with the windows on the inner courtyard. The room came with a telephone, radio, cable tv, and a very large ensuite bathroom.
The hotel has 26 rooms ranging from 105 euro for a single to 165 euro for a triple.
The restaurant is nice and accommodating with good food to be had.
The breakfast buffet is the typical fare (cold cuts, bread, cereal...) but there is plenty to be had and you can fill up nicely for a day full of exploring.
I'd stay here again if I found myself back in Heidelberg again.
Just what we ere looking for
Judy Lon 31/01/2017 16:24This is a small hotel on a quiet street in the middle of the old town. You can walk everywhere from here. The room was comfortable, the bathroom modern, Breakfast was very good with a nice assortment of cereals, yogurt, eggs, meat, cheese, fish, fruit, breads and jams, coffee and juice. the service was very good. This is not a luxurious hotel, but it is clean and comfortable and was just what we were looking for. We stayed here for 6 nights, did not need a car as so much was accessible by foot. I recommend NOT taking room 19 which only has a window looking out to the hall
Charming, central, friendly--the perfect place in a perfect city
VAfoodie2014on 30/12/2016 17:05Stayed while visiting for the Christmas markets and sight seeing. The hotel is located on a small side road between the main pedestrian way and the road following the Neckar River. We did have to drive the pedestrian street to park at the hotel, but after mildly freaking out, we managed. We had a 3 bed room at the top of one of the houses (several buildings merged into one hotel in a common European style), and it was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped (nice modern shower and towel heating rack!). The staff was friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a typical German breakfast the next morning--fabulous fresh breads, yogurt, deli meats and ham, eggs, pastries, sausages. You can't beat a good German breakfast. The hotel was a two minute walk to the pedestrian center and shopping, another minute to the kirkplatz, university, Christmas markets, Old Bridge, and other sites. Perfect. Can't recommend it highly enough!
