Nice family owned hotel
lelaekaon 10/05/2016 07:52Hotel was close to the station and city center, in front of the lake Murten. Views from the balcony was breathtaking. Very clean, but bit old stylish. Breakfast was boring. The staff was very friendly. Free wifi, just ask code at the reception and they will give you special voucher.
good choice around Murten
PeterEijsboutson 20/03/2016 21:54Rooms are in the annex, not in the main building. You have to go outside to reach the entrance to the rooms. Room looks recently renovated, fresh colours, nice furniture. Bed a bit harder then I prefer. Wifi for free and ok for stability speed could be better. Bathroom had a tub, personally I prefer a shower, but all is clean and that is more important. Breakfast is a buffet style not too extensive in choices but more then enough for my taste. As it is Switzerland prices are high in general, taking that into consideration price - quality ratio is ok.
Very helpful and a dream in summer
FRuudyon 12/02/2016 20:05A little older building but lovingly renovated. My room was spacious with a nice patio and a view of the lake, good TV a corner with a couch and a desk. Bathroom very nice and lots of hot water but less than 2m high... Standing straight wasn't possible.
Breakfast quite OK considering Swiss standards.
It's good. Not average and not very good.....
Crococaton 18/07/2013 10:13Attending a wedding last weekend, I stayed at this little family managed hotel at the shores of lake Murten. Location amazing, right at the lake.
some points to improve:
From outside it looked like a runned down building from the 80's, which really needs to have a fresh up. The rooms however have been re-done in a nice style. Rather small rooms but for 3 star OK. As my room was really the last one in the corner on the first floor, it has only view to the terrace where people where having lunch or dinner only separated by some bushes. Not really lake view but guess that was a matter of bad luck which room you get allocated in, as hotel was fully booked.
Too bad this room had no air-conditioned, as it has been a very hot day and due to location of the room hidden in the far corner with no possibility for a little breeze from outside.
It was a pity the garden where we had the Apero, has not been maintained better. Looked pretty wild and not taken care off. Nothing against a 'wild' garden but this is just bad maintenance.
The way to get to the room has been slightly inconvenient. You had to go outside again from the Reception, then stairs down, under the terrace and then building where the rooms are located. That ‘corridor’ where you had to walk through looked pretty messy. Bit like storage.
Now the positive side, which is even more important, the software of the hotel...
The staff of the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything was pretty personal. You could feel it is a family runned hotel. Also the breakfast buffet was simple but nice with fresh products from the region. And... for a lot of travellers this seems important. Free WIFI. You will have to ask for an access code at the reception and they give you a special voucher.
All in all a good hotel but not yet very good…. But I know with small improvements they could be very good!
Amazing location, friendly service and clean rooms with a view
austinjjcon 18/04/2013 02:08We were there for a weekend birthday celebration. 11 people - 10 Swiss, one American. This place (Morat) is probably a bit off the usual path for American tourists but it is well worth a trip. The lake view is just spectacular. The hotel has a wonderful terrace, great courtyard (we took our breakfast there in early April), amazing lake access and views. It would be good for people with kids or for couples.
The rooms are small and as other reviewers have said....that 70's show. But in a good way. The location is really perfect. Very nice walk to the village center and lots to do on the shore of the lake. We indulged in a boat ride which was great.
Only issue....it was a bit noisy during the night. Not due to people but due to lake creatures....swans, ducks, etc. They begin to "quack" pretty darn early. Oh well.....you are on a beautiful lake after all.
We would go again.
