very good time in pavilions. for just 1 week we were mostly outside on the run. staff overall friendly and respectfull. we feel generally very welcoming and i would choose pavilions anytime again for a nice time to remember in sanur!
We only had 1D/2N at The Pavilions and we wished we had been able to stay longer. We arrived at Denpasar airport and were to be met at arrival by a guide, but no one showed up and the travel agent did not have our pick-up in the system. We took a taxi to The Pavilions and were warmly greeted at reception and promptly shown to our room. I was not feeling well and the staff checking us in could tell I was not 100%. She asked if I would like tea in the room and quickly got us into the room with our bags. We were so happy with the villa and when we walked in. There was a small kitchen area, a very large bedroom/bathroom, and a dining table near the lounge. There was a private butler and when we ordered dinner, he came to the villa and laid the table for our dinner. We ordered breakfast that night and when it showed up the next morning, the butler once again laid the table for our meal. We spent most of the day at the very nice pool and just enjoyed relaxing. We had an early departure the next morning for an early flight so the hotel offered to fix us a breakfast box to take with us. Everything was ready when we woke up the next morning for our early start. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the villa and great service. The manager stopped in to speak to us the day before we left to make sure our stay was okay and we were having a nice time. If we are ever back in Bali, we would choose to stay at The Pavilions.
Located off the main road, it's a quiet and peaceful retreat from the busy streets of Sanur. Within it's closed walls, the property is well landscaped with a communal swimming pool and open concept restaurant.
We stayed in a deluxe villa at ground level, next to our own private pool/dining area with attached kitchen.
The rooms were very modern, clean and well equipped, with very friendly staff on hand at all times.
If you are looking for accommodation that is of a high quality, peaceful with very accommodating staff, this is the place for you.
I had a wonderful stay with my friends. The honeymoon villa was fabulous and the garden villa that my friend stayed in was modern and nice too. Breakfast was delicious and everyone was friendly and very responsive. The private pool was kept clean with daily maintenance. The spa was amazing too, great quality for the value. And I loved the gift shop!
Please don't judge the property until you've read my full review...
Maybe I'll start with some background information: My husband and I love the Pavilions in Phuket and we've stayed there many times over the years. We always go back because they do a great job with general upkeep and maintenance so the place never gets old or tired. Each time is as fabulous as the first, and staff are consistently lovely and fantastic - whether it is the person coming to turn down your room, the ladies at the spa or the waiters at the restaurant.
I know this isn't a review for the propery in Phuket, but fact is that we had high expectations for Bali because our prior experience with Pavilions was nothing short of perfection.
The concept of Pavilions Bali is the same, an intimate and romantic destination, and you can certainly see some similarities - but overall we were a little disappointed with our stay in Sanur. The Honeymoon Villa was quite dated and in desparate need of some maintenance work. This is ranging from general upkeep like repainting dirty walls, replacing old and tired furniture to some more serious issues like the wooden floorboards around the pool, which we actually found to be a bit dangerous. My husband got multiple splinters stuck in his foot during our stay and we spent hours trying to get them all out as to not to risk an infection.
The second disappointment was the food. We had dinner in their on-site restaurant once (beautiful atmosphere and set-up) but found the food generally a bit bland and lacklustre. Breakfast even more so; the selection was quite uninspired and boring. When on holidays we want to look forward to breakfast the next morning.. unfortunately not so much here.
Last, we found it great that emphasis is put on service and that somebody brings breakfast to your villa, picks it up later etc. But then you also have someone coming to clean the pool, then the vlla and so on.. A few reviews have mentioned it previously and we just felt this aspect could have been coordinated a bit better so that it doesn't feel so intrusive.
All in all, our stay wasn't great and very far from perfection.
However, I feel that all the negatives are definitely things which can easily be changed by improving on-site management. The potential is there, for sure. Luckily we learned during our stay that there was a change of management right at the time we visited. I'm saying 'luckily' because the new manager, Simona, used to be at Pavilions Phuket. So I have no doubt Pavilions Bali has a great future ahead and Simona will change things around in no time!
