What People are saying

Horrible Price/Performance ratio

GsPB1983on 05/08/2017 19:37

Our room was located on the first floor, directing to the backside of the building. The carpet was extremely attired and the stains unhygienic, the room rather small but sufficient. We left the window open during the night for fresh air. At 6 a.m. a ventilation system next to our window started to run. The noise was extremely loud and even though we closed the window it was difficult to sleep. We only stayed for one night, but I strongly regret to have chosen this hotel, as the price for the room was expensive and much too high. If we have had to stay another night, we would have asked for another room. The hotel looks lovely on the outside and the personnel is very friendly, but the price/performance-ratio remains disappointing and impudent.

A lovely relaxing break.

we had a two night break while visiting my mother in law. We have often driven past the hotel which has a fabulous location. This time we got to enjoy staying there.
We had a warm welcome and felt very at ease. The views were wonderful and the food was great. Our room was a little tired but was comfortable and we liked the old fashioned style as it was in keeping with the age of the hotel. It was exactly what we were led to expect and we hope it isn't modernised too much as the bedrooms are undergoing refurbishment.

Beautiful outside, not so good inside

Great location and it's very close to Glencoe if you can not find a place to stay there. Outside is so beautiful, lobby floor lovely.I like squeaky stairs and having a bit haunted vibe. Rooms need urgent renovation. In the room we stayed, there is a big tear in one of the chairs and tried to be covered up with a pillow. Water pressure was so weak so showers not really enjoyable and unfortunately the water was yellow. For the first time I've seen that color water in Scotland and here water is so clean you can drink it from the tap. Another huge disappointment was in their restaurant, my husband was served off fish & chips , it smelled so bad, we were so surprised how the chef didn't realise that. They apologised and didn't charge us with the fish and chips but they kinda ruined our dinner.Breakfast was ok but why not serving a great local cheese which Scotland is very great at but serving gouda?? We are a bit puzzled by that. Overall, unfortunately there is no chance that we would have been back, unless they have a big improvement.

Scottish Baronial architecture in beautiful surroundings on a main route

The room was spacious, the bathroom luxurious, the bed comfortable. The restaurant served good food. This was an overnight stop-over for us, but the storage space in the room was plentiful for a week's stay.

Always wanted to stay here. Would stay again.

I notice that someone has said it was a bit run down. It is very homely. We had a sleigh bed which was a really beautiful piece of furniture, and it had a couple of chips in the woodwork at the corners. I think a member of staff should have a look around using a "fresh eyes" approach, and see where there would be benefit from a little TLC. Otherwise, I would not change a thing.

Thank you for a warm welcome, a delightful stay, and a much-needed break from the road.

Pictures on website much better than reality

It is a 17th center Castle with lots of history, but in reality it is a bit run down hotel needing some urgent improvement. Bathroom was big, but shower was tiny, difficult even for a small person. The water pressure was really bad too.
The room itself was small, very run down furniture and not really comfortable.
Breakfast was pre-cooked and even early some options disappeared and were not refilled.
Dinner on the other hand was really good, but as every where in the highlands finishes very early.
