No interest in service

I had to stay there one night before I moved to another hotel I booked for four nights because it wasn't available. So I wasn't careful enough to check reviews before booking. The only thing I praise about the hotel is the night shift guy who greeted me and processed the checkin very swiftly in addition to the location being very closed to the railroad station. In fact, the location and its availability were the only reason why I chose it for one night. After that, nothing was satisfactory, including the very tiny room, poor quality breakfast, very rude attitude of the front desk clerks showing no appreciation of the guests, etc.

The worst of all is that the sweatshirt I left in the bathroom when I checked out was not found. I visited the hotel on the next day and asked if anything had been returned by house keeping people. The lady at the front desk spoked to another lady in French, who must have been a house keeping person, and then almost instantaneously said to me, with no emotion on her face, there wasn't anything left on the room. I guess the employees are either dishonest or have no interest in caring for guests or even the business of the hotel.

I arrived in Marseille after discovering my pocket had been picked at the Gare in Toulouse. Took a deep breath and was ready for the stress and hassle. Coleen at reception was wonderful. She really went out of her way to get me sorted out with directions to bank and police, phone calls to block cards and generally just took care of it. After I had everything settled, she recommended and booked a table for me at a nearby restaurant. What I had anticipated was going to be a very stressful afternoon and evening turned out fine thanks to her. The rest of the staff were very helpful also. The room was tiny and dark but very clean 'tho I had to air the air freshener smell out. Funny smell. Towels were sufficient in quantity and quality. No phone in the room but receptionist happy to make calls for me. WiFi was bit slow but reasonable. All in all. a good choice for a short stay.

Adquate budget hotel close to the train station

Just a few minutes walk from the train station this budget hotel had a comfortable bed and plenty of hot water for the shower. The room itself was quite small and the view from the window was into another room. The only real negative was the carpet was dirty and sticky, it really needed a good shampoo. The Breakfast room was bright and modern and the breakfast itself lovely with the products being freshly baked continually throughout service. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk from the marina.

Good location near to station

At the foot of the steps leading to the St. Charles train and bus station, and a 15 minute walk to the old port, the hotel is well-located for a city break, with easy connections to transport links, the surrounding area and the airport. Competitively priced, the room was small but comfortable and adequate for our needs. Although overlooking the road noise was never an issue. Reception staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. Breakfast was somewhat hit or miss, even at 9.00 a.m. an hour before closing. One day there was a lack of fruit, another no croissants or pastries, and on another the coffee machine was not fully functioning. If all elements were present it was a reasonable selection.

For a central city, near train station location, the area posed no sense of threat at all times. A recommended restaurant La Manne is within 150 metres on a side street, and provided good quality and quantity French fare at a reasonable price.

Close to the train station. The rooms are a bit small and the bathrooms are even smaller
The breakfast however was spectacular and the staff were pretty friendly and helpful
Hotel is a bit far from all the attractive bits of marseille and the walk over there is a bit dodgy
