Daughter's Wedding

We had our daughter's wedding reception in Ballygally Castle Hotel on 9th June and it was amazing!
During the planning period beforehand the support, help and service we received was excellent from General Manager Norman McBride and events Co-Ordinator Sarah Corken supported by Gemma.
I don't remember at any stage the word 'no' being used or 'you can't have that' etc., everything was made very easy for us which took away a lot of stress.
On the wedding day itself we were very lucky to have lovely weather with warm sunshine, which everyone wants for a wedding, however as we knew how beautiful the location and gardens at Ballygally Castle were (one of the main the reasons we chose the venue) we wanted to be able to showcase that to our guests, and we were!
When we arrived at the hotel after the wedding service, the drinks reception was set up in the garden and the musical trio we booked were playing there also. Overall the impact on arrival for us and our guests was superb! We had that 'garden party' feeling, with guests enjoying drinks, canapés and fun in beautiful surroundings during that couple of hours before dinner.
The wedding meal itself was superb, we were delighted with the quality and quantity of food (thanks again to the Head Chef) and how efficiently it was served to all our guests, many of whom commented to us how much they enjoyed their meal. I know all of us sitting at the bridal party table certainly did as well!
We have been left with wonderful memories of the wedding and much of this is down to the service we received in the Ballygally Castle Hotel and what the staff there did for us last Friday, from we arrived at the hotel until after the evening supper was served and last dance played, under the direction of Norman, Sarah, Gemma and the rest of the team.
We are very happy we chose this venue and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who is currently thinking of Ballygally Castle for their wedding venue! Many thanks again to you all!

Ballygally Castle is an absolutely fabulous venue for a wedding
We were so fortunate with the weather as both days on either side were not what you might have wised for!!!
The event ran like clockwork and everything was just perfect
The staff went out of their way to accommodate everyone's needs
The barman Mark was particularly helpful & was able to provide everything requested
Would definitely recommend this venue

A friend was getting married so I decided to book a room at the hotel. Another friend came with me who knows the hotel well and showed me around.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming and can not do enough for you. The bedroom we had was spacious, plenty of cupboard space with iron and ironing board, safe and kettle with tea/coffee.

Our room over looked the sea and it was lovely listening to the waves break on the shore but got drowned out my the traffic noise.

There is no air con in the room which was warm so had to leave the window open which was noisy.

The beds are very comfortable and we had a great sleep until the traffic started.

Hotel has great history with the Ghost Toad and The Game of Thrones door.

The breakfast was lovely offering cereal, cold meats, cheese, fruit, yogurt, fruit juices, muffins, breads, hot food like bacon, sausage, beans, scrambled egg, soda and potato bread, beans and black pudding. When you arrive into the breakfast room through The Game of Thrones door to the right you are greeted by staff who take your room number and show you to a table and gets your tea or coffee. The rest is self service.

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel before heading on up the Glenn's of Antrim for the day.

Not Hastings Finest!

We found this to be overpriced and underwhelming for what we got for our very hard earned money! It cost €270 for a one night package of bed, breakfast and evening meal. We had the misfortune to be there with 3 tours and our "package' meal was horrendous. I had supposedly local prawns but I do think the bag was snipped and some lacklustre poor prawns were shoved onto wilted lettuce and a thin and utterly tasteless sauce poured on them--ugh and ugh again! I had salmon-- nice average and my husband had chicken which he enjoyed. The dessert was an average "apple" caramel. I believe that a "package" of this cost should warrant the table d'hôte menu at least as it does in many fine establishments that we've been to.The coffee was nice though so good there. A bit of lemon/lime/ice would be nice in the water also and please do you have to have rubber table mats????
No one mentions the road noise but be aware this hotel is on a busy road so it's noisy and one needs to have the window open for air when it's warm as there's no air con that we could find. Avoid 109 if you want peace as you have the tour buses, the taxis (left his engine running for at least 20 mins while he was inside) and the staff being picked up etc right under your window---just a word of advice re this.
The staff were pleasant and welcoming ( the restaurant staff could do with a smile and a bit of further training) and the duty manager Robin was pleasant to deal with---- we have eaten in other Hastings hotels and found them lovely ---- such a pity to be the runt of the litter in such a lovely area.

Wonderful small hotel !!!

We stayed over while waiting to catch the ferry to Scotland. Checked it out on line but on arrival was really impressed by the quality of service and surroundings. We had a back room overlooking the walled garden and it's was very very comfortable. The dining experience was good but lacked a dedicated Maitre D approach as we waited to be seated for quite a while. Food was good - my wife had the salmon which she said was perfect - I tried "crispy" pork belly which was anything but crispy and could just as easily been plain roast pork. Ambiance was good with reasonable service.
