Good hotel but very tired
Robyn Pon 26/06/2017 12:08First room was at back of hotel and very small and no view, Moved to a front facing room and were very happy there for the rest of the two weeks. Hotel could do with a good upgrade.Staff are friendly and helpful but I dont understand why the hotel has 4 stars?
Disappointed overall
DeniseM_Jacksonon 22/06/2017 12:17Beachfront = great views, Wrong part of town though.
I arrived and there was a prostitute right outside of the hotel. The streets smelt like urine and there were hawkers everywhere. The staff asked me to please be safe at night which was a redflag. The hotel is very outdated, old and needs a renovation. The carpets were dirty and the bathroom in my room was of a 2-star standard. There were stains in the basin and bath tub, not dirty, just old stains. The staff during breakfast were not formally dressed (old uniforms and everyone wore something different) nor acted formally. They would shout at each other from across the room. The service was just poor over all.
Disappointed
Gary Hon 10/06/2017 18:55Booked online into the Balmoral hotel for a weekend stay. The pictures on the website looked so nice but on arrival at the hotel we were disappointed at this 4 star hotel. The hotel was so tired looking and needed some serious refurbishment. The patching here and there did not look professional at all. The family room we booked was not clean and had a musty smell. Walls were dirty, bed sheets had stains on them, carpets were dirty, safe did not work, shower had no pressure and the desk was falling apart. Whilst I understand that the owners may have wanted to retain the 'old' charm, everything in the hotel needed renovating. The one positive about the hotel is that it had a fantastic view. For the price we paid, there were definitely a lot of other better options. Will not be going back to this hotel in a hurry until the hotel gets a total overhaul.
Terribly disappointed in the quality of service
Laila Son 11/05/2017 17:46Architecturally the place retains its old charm, but once inside, I was shocked at the cheap additions such as mirrors in bathrooms and broken plastic garbage bins. Service, starting from reception to room service was just plain horrible. Reservation managers kept harassing us on who is sleeping in which room (we were two families with 3 adults, one 14 year old so we reserved for him as an adult and four children. And we had reserved two family rooms specifying all kids ages. But the manager kept questioning us insisting to know who is sleeping where, which was unnerving and unprofessional. Reception bathrooms stunk so bad. Dinner took over an hour to be served and once up in the room, the overused, half burnt kettle couldn't be used because there were neither water bottles nor coffee and tea bags in the empty box. We were lied to repeatedly about Wifi access which was part of the package. First they said it works only once we pay in advance of for room, then only in our respective rooms upstairs so no access at dinner table, then access was denied to iPhones which makes no sense especially that between the three of us we had different phones and finally they conceded that there was no Wifi. There is this sense that you are treated as a criminal the minute you walk in until proven otherwise. Totally unacceptable behavior and very tasteless.
Enjoyed every moment
