What People are saying

Nice location but expensive for what you get

diinaus on 29/01/2017 12:43

Stayed here for 3 nights in January with a large group. The Bamboo Huts are very rustic style and basic with a bed, small table and bathroom. Waterheater not working nor were they in all the other rooms rented by friends. Mattress typical Thai style and very firm which was fine by me but not for others in group who preferred softer. My room had a mosquito net which came in useful, many others didn't so I would say if you stay here in mosquito season ensure you are given a room with one as there are many holes in the huts for them to enter during the evening. The management were quite obliging to our large group and meals were quite good all though a little bit over priced. Location is very good and set in the hills in a very peaceful area. The lodge seemed to be quite lacking in general maintenance which which had it been up to scratch would have made a big difference. Considering what else is available around Chiang Mai and in the same area the rates are somewhat expensive for what you get. Would I stay here again I have to say no. Better available at better prices.

To be connected to Nature, best place to stay

The people are very nice, went there late at night and they welcomed us and prepared dinner for us even if the kitchen was closed.

They also have a nice selection of Inca tea and Inca products that are made by themselves. They collect the leaves and do all the processing. Should try it.

The campfire was also nice to sit at and tell stories. At night when you sleep you can hear owls and other night birds and insects. The lodge itself is very rustic but quite clean, I mean its an experience very different from Hotels but very pleasant if you know how to enjoy it. Stayed there only one night though, wished I stayed more to be able to explore the forest.

been there for two nights, nice to be in full nature and hear all the animals at night.

the girl who welcomed us wanted to cook our diner. we agreed... the only thing she did was cook some rice and for the rest she went to the village to get ready made food. we were the only 2 guests so we understood this, wasn't it for that the food was almost cold when surved... when we got the bill for the dinner, she billed us more then three times what you pay where she got the food!!!
the breakfast was alright, fried eggs, toast, coffee... for the first morning because the second morning.... NO BREAKFAST!!!!!!!!!!!! the only person around was the maintenance man. he gave us two glasses and some orange juice... he appologised for not being able to cook for us..
it's not that this is something that made our day start in a bad way but it was a real pitty, not professional at all!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great host and lush little hideaway.

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Christmas period. The huts are basic and rustic but they were clean and spacious.

Ken and his family were great hosts and very helpful and accommodating with our needs and interests. This place has a very nice atmosphere and we were treated like one of the family.

Breakfast was basic and plentiful but it is included in the price which is good. The only thing I would say is the evening meals were slightly overpriced for what we received.

If you have a car like we did this is a great location as it is not too far from the highway and in the fork of the road to Pai and Chang Dao. Chiang Mai is less than an hour away also. It is a lovely peaceful place.

Very over priced and run down

We ended up here when our first choice fell through. The pictures looked good, so although more than we would normally pay, we thought we would give it a try as we only needed it for one night. By the time we arrived it was dark, so we had little choice but to stay, otherwise we would have to go back down the long and terribly rutted track, then drive 10km to the main road before we could look for anything else, by which time it would have been quite late.

We were greeted by two very friendly men who first seemed to argue about which bungalow we should have. Perhaps we lost out because other reviews seem to think the bungalows acceptable, but ours was truly dreadful.

As soon as we arrived I needed to use the toilet and when I finished was shocked (and amused) to see a frog swirling round in the water as it flushed away. But at least the toilet worked, which is more than could be said for the shower. All I could get was a dribble. Now I am someone who likes simple and rustic places, but I still expect them to be clean, which this very basic concrete bathroom was not. The sink appeared dirty and the stand (bricks with holes in them) that it stood on could only be cleaned with great difficulty, so it probably never was. The concrete floor was dirty too and sediment washed down the hole as I turned on the shower.

The beds were by far the hardest we slept (or rather didn't sleep ) on in Thailand, and the pillows were hard and lumpy. Although there were a number of extra blankets, they were so thin that I was cold even with using them all. There was no mirror at all in the bungalow, or anywhere on the site.

The set menu supper was very nice, though also over priced, but the included breakfast of a cold fried egg, plastic ham and white sliced bread, pretty awful. We have stayed in quite a few places in Thailand now, and this was the worst. For 1,000 baht a night it was extortionate - we have stayed in better for 300. Very disappointing and the only real let down that we have had.

In the morning we did see the beautiful setting, but nothing could compensate for such an uncomfortable night. Such a shame when, with a bit of TLC, it could have been so lovely.
