Big apartment, but with some bad parts
Diana Pon 21/09/2015 17:34We were traveling as a group of 4 (2 couples) and we booked Al Castello for 3 nights.
The apartment was really big (2 bedrooms, one living/dining room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconies). We were told that the area is not the best one in Catania and that a lot of thefts happen (nothing happened to us so though, we were just fine). It is really close to the city center (a couple of minutes' walk). Also, the parking is free. Ivano, the host, was a nice host and helped us when needed; came to change our gas cylinder when it finished.
The bad part was that we saw some cockroaches in one bathroom - not a pleasant memory and there was a strong smell of gas in one balcony, where they keep their gas cylinder. Also, each time we tried to use the cooking stove, the smell was really strong inside. I'm sure there was some leaking somewhere and that's not really safe.
I don't think I would ever book a room in Catania again, but if those 2 problems are fixed at Al Castello, I would recommend it for someone else.
