What People are saying

Not really a B&B

JasonStacyon 26/09/2012 22:19

This establishment should not be called a B&B. The room was nice, spacious and comfortable, but did not look like the photos online, and the bathroom was not attached. There was NO breakfast served. Upon arrival, we were given vouchers to get a pastry and cappucino at a place a few blocks away. We did not see a safe in the room. The remote did not work for the tv. The owner's daughter did not speak any English and was not very friendly, which made things a little difficult. We were especially confused about the breakfast thing. Transportation around the establishment was convenient. There is a bus station, metro station and train station all very close by. The down-side of having this convenience is that with the train station came the noise and it was not the best part of town. There were a lot of sidewalk restaurants close by, which was nice. I would not recommend this establishment.

Not good enough

We arrived on a very hot day at 2 PM, desperately wanted a shower, but no water. The couple who had the room the night before had the same experience. Only two rooms occupied the two nights we were there, the girl in the other room had no water one of the mornings. When we came in the next day though, around 5 PM, there was water.
5 minutes trouble every time we wanted access to the premises, if it was the key or the lock I do not know.
Brown stains at bottom of shower door.
Neither Serafina or her daughter speaks English.
Beds OK, and our room, # 2, had space enough for an extra bed.
Very basic breakfast with strong coffee, the kitchen table where served seats four. Which means you cannot eat when you want, but have to 'make an appointment'.
Location is, in my view excellent, a few minutes from Termini and bus station Piazza Cinquecento.
Street Via Filippo Turati may seem 'shady' but is not. A little noisy.

Clean & ok location but personally wouldnt go back.

Stayed here for 4 days in May of this year. The location was good, and relatively quiet, although there are many B&B's in the building so at times a lot of noise echoing up the stair wells. The older lady who dealt with us on arrival was friendly and approachable, despite the language barrier, however the other younger female staff member was a little less welcoming. The main door had a entry system, although it was left open at times, and there are quite a few "characters" that hang around outside in the street.
We had asked (& had it confirmed) when booking for an en-suite room, but the bathroom was at the end of the hall, and was used by other guests, even though we were told it was for our use only. The room itself was ok, again not the most secure door but you would hope no-one would force entry as the B&B front door was quite well locked. A security light in the hall was annoying as it shone into the bedroom, but after a days sightseeing we were tired, so it was easy to get back to sleep. Also there was no safety deposit box in the room as advertised.
Breakfast was basic, the coffee lovely though. We were able to leave our bags in the hall until we caught the train later which saved having to carry them round the city.
If you are only paying a few euros a night then its good value for money as a base, but i suspect there are better options available.
Rome was fab, and lots of choice for cheap food & drink, and so much to see, i'd definately go back, just not to the Casa Serafina.

Not my favorite

I can't really explain why I didn't fully like this place. The rooms are big and the external bathroom is good. But it just had some sort of deserted place kind of quality to it. Like it needed some life. I stayed in a total of 6 hotels in Italy and this was my least favorite. Also the breakfast was not good. Pre packed sweet things. The coffee was good though and Angela, the daughter of serafina was nice enough, not a lick of English though.

I would say if you're looking for a cheap place next to the station this is probably for you. But u think you could do better.

Clean, comfortable, quiet and welcoming - what more would you want?

The reviews for this B&B were correct. Serafina made us feel very welcome and was accommodating for a later check in and for leaving our bags for collection at the end of our last day. There was a minor language barrier but transactions were simple and did not require much beyond basic communication and lots can be done with gestures!
The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was a private one separate to the room but this worked out alright being only up the hall way. I am not sure if all rooms were this arrangement but it might be something to consider when you book if this is important to you..
We couldn't believe how quiet it was given it was the street parallel to Termini (about 50m as the crow flies) with a lot of scooter traffic. The only noise heard was other guests arriving or leaving and some faint footfall on the stairs. It was a great location for arrival by train but also close to the National Museum and Basilica of Maria Maggiore side of town.
Breakfast was served in the cosy kitchen and consisted of fresh good coffee, yoghurt, juice and sweet croissants. We were able to appoint our time for this. It was a nice homely stay and very convenient.
