Nice surprise !
ellaKrakowon 10/07/2016 12:57It is very convenient for visiting Bergamo. Close to the bus and train station and also to the city centre. Quiet and safe area. In the residential building but inside like a small hotel. Four modern rooms with bathrooms and balconies. An area for breakfest with all kitchen appliances like fridge, coffee machine, microwave. Remember that you have to pay at the beginning of the stay as you leave a room without checking.
Quaint Location in Bergamo
NC_Biker750on 06/07/2016 19:20We needed a place near the train for one night. The location was convenient to the train and bus terminal. Maria was very helpful to make suggestions. The price was not expensive and shops and restaurants were nearby. It is not a hot breakfast with meat or eggs so this is lacking.
Wonderful!!!!!!!
stchswon 13/06/2016 23:17Maria the owner could not be any kinder. She is a warm and welcoming. The rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast was very good. Very accessible by foot from train station 5 -10 min. Plenty of restaurants and shopping close by.
Note: the location is a small shopping arcade. It is located on Via Angelo Maj.
Hello, Maria, Steve & Arturo
Great place to stay
champkison 02/04/2016 13:14A great little b&b. The two women that own the place were very friendly and welcoming. Location is great- very close to Bergamo train station, just a short walk. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was included and was good- cereals, tea/coffee, toast, yoghurts. I would definitely stay again. Very good value too.
We are sorry we stayed just 1 night!
Nik Ron 18/11/2015 11:26I stayed at B&B Fanzago with my family on our way to Tenerife. Unfortunately we stayed just for 1 night because both the hotel and the city are marvelous.
Let me start with the location - perfect and central, close to the railway station and within walking distance from the main attractions and the funicolare to Citta Alta, easy to reach from the airport. If you come to Bergamo by plane, just hop on bus No.1 and hop off at bus stop "viale Papa Giovanni XXIII Urban Center" (the third stop from the airport) which is next to the railway station. My advice (if you plan to stay 1 day only, like me) is to buy a 24 hours tourist ticket for the public transport straight from the airport (it costs 5 euro). You can use it on all buses and the funicolares.
Finding the hotel might look difficult but it's not! When you get off the bus just continue to follow the street. Shortly you will reach a street - Via Angelo Maj. Then turn to the right and continue for about 15-20 meters more till you reach a small cafeteria and on your left you will see a gallery with small shops. Enter the gallery and after 5-10 meters you will find the entrance on your left.
Because there is not a reception and staff staying all the time there, about 1 day before arrival they will ask you either by e-mail or SMS about your estimated time of arrival at the hotel, so that somebody will be there to meet you.
The owner is a lovely lady who will show you the room, give you the keys to the doors (4 in all) and explain to you whatever you need to know.
We stayed at the "Autumn" room. It was perfectly clean, the bathroom was spacious and clean too. You have all the facilities you might need - a kettle (but you can use the kitchen at any time), a fridge (with mineral water), a TV and safe, and a hair-dryer in the bathroom.
Regarding the breakfast, at your disposal there is a big fridge, full of different things to eat, a microwave, a toaster, a coffee machine. There is a large balcony where you can have your breakfast when the weather allows.
Our room was overlooking something like a big inner yard (kind of) and I wouldn't say the view was spectacular but there wasn't any street noise. There is noise from the adjacent rooms and the kitchen but it is not a big issue (maybe for the light sleepers, I guess).
There are plenty small and cosy restaurants and pizzerias close to the hotel.
If there are 3 of you, the room can be a little squeezy although the extra beds are lifted up against the wall.
Don't forget that when you pay, you will be charged 2 euros per person for each night you stay - it's a city tax like everywhere in Italy.
Next time we go to Bergamo (we will definitely return because a day is not enough to explore this beautiful town) we will stay again at B&B Fanzago!
