What People are saying

Wanted an apart-hotel and got it.

D Son 04/06/2017 17:32

As a family who used to take European beach holidays we have in the last few years turned to city breaks for a change and so far we have enjoyed all of them and this excursion to Rome was no exception.

We chose Home 77 as we wanted a pad that had the Hotel style rooms but this time without the front desk syndrome and somewhere just out of the city centre.

The place we were sold on had just the right ticks in most of the boxes that we all agreed on.

This pad was in a residential part of Rome but it was not residential like a typical residential area in the UK if you know what I mean.

From the pictures that we researched beforehand it still looked city centre(ish) in style so we plumped for it and we weren't disappointed but as we are quite well city traveled we sort of knew what we were looking for.

We arrived to 5 days of decent sunshine (around 31*) and this always makes things look all the more better but to be honest the area was to our family just what the doctor ordered. We had a fifth floor hotel style room which was beautifully clean with decent comfortable beds and a spotlessly clean modern bathroom all aided and abetted with a kitchen area supplied with free fresh milk, water, continental style breakfast food and fresh fruit of which we seemed to have a free run at each morning.

On some Hotel 77 reviews we read that things were probably going to be noisy around the apartments with traffic, mopeds etc and although we were fully akin to hearing some Rome noise of sorts because it's Rome and it's a city and if you choose to holiday within a city it's pretty obvious you are going to experience some noise although incredibly we didn't personally encounter any of the expectant noise as we were located in a quad room at the back of the apart-hotel and the rooms were pretty sound proof also.

It probably helped that we were all pretty shattered daily what with all the sightseeing and food and drink intake that we did.

Outside of the apart hotel were plenty of little places to grab a cheap eat especially when you have a son of 16 who seems to put food away at a great speed of knots.

To be honest if I packed away all the fresh pizza and pasta like he did I would have come home like Oliver Hardy but of course I still came back as lithe as I went (not).

Just 50m away from our side entrance of the apart hotel was a lovely small take away fresh pizza joint where the owner couldn't do much more for you. He was a nice local Italian geezer who could have been your Papa (John)....English joke!

75m the other way a Gelato ice cream parlour to die for so my children and wife said.

100m down the side road is a fresh fruit market with fruit and vegetables at incredible prices (cheap as sweet potato chips)....another upmarket English joke!

We bought Asparagus in a bundle of 35/40 sticks for around 5 euros something that would cost in Blighty around £12 or 15 euro's. We also bought some Italian tomatoes there that tasted almost better than the Oxford United win at Sw*ndon recently....and that's saying something.

However if I could ask Pascal the owner of Home 77 to supply a colander to wash the fruit in it would be very helpful to future guests as well as maybe some condiments such as olive oil and some salt and pepper too wouldn't go amiss.

Locality is easy as there is a bus stop very near to Home 77 and the buses although very busy are very frequent too. We as a family bought a weekly pass cost p.p 24 euros and although we didn't stay for a whole week it was the cheaper option than buying daily and very decent value as you can use the metro and tram on these tickets also.

Rome itself is a gem if you are a first timer. We went to do all the main sights and we weren't disappointed. We ate in all the main centre alleyways and avenues and for atmosphere it might be along time till our experience is beaten.

Home 77- book it -and let the Roman and Italian things that you expect evolve your stay and you will enjoy it.

Home 77- a quirky trendy joint that will indeed draw us back.

Also a big mention to all the lovely staff at Home 77 who make this little corner of Rome a big fat Simon Cowell style yes.

Lastly (not quite), we did the tour bus (City Sightseeing) and bought the 48 hours pass and this believe it or not can last for up to 3 days if you buy at around lunch time on the first day as it will allow you a journey on the third day as long as you get on before the expiry time.

Also at the Colosseum if anyone in your party is a teacher you can get in for a few euro's less than full adult price if you produce your ID.....

Rome prices....not as expensive as we were led to believe but this perhaps depends on where you live in the UK I suppose- as we do pay equivalent prices in Oxolona (NTFC joke) to Londonia.

Phew!

Not worthy..dissapointing

Hotel is not worth the money they ask.
Breakfast is a joke, jjust 4 croissants and milk in a narrow kitchen that you have to prepare. They juts billed us as soon as we checked in. asked us to pay in cash
Bathroom is tiny and had to shower with cold water the 2 days we stayed.
The recepcionsit was just worried to bill us some extra each time we ask for something different. We did not like it.
Hotel is a renovated apartment with some 5 small rooms.

A 4* hotel quality at a B&B price!

Home 77 is a very suitable option for both, families and couples.

When we arrived, they offered cold water and juice to us. The girl at the Reception gave us a city map and kindly gave us a lot of info about public transport, places to go, restaurants, etc.

Our double room was located in a different building than the Reception, 3min walking. It was part of a big flat which had 5 more rooms, a kitchen in which breakfast was served every morning and a little library.

Guests have keys for the building, the flat and their own rooms, and can use the kitchen and the fridge anytime, a perfect option for those who enjoy indepedence.

Our room was equipped with a kingsize bed, an armchair and lamp for reading, a desk with a chair, a 32" TV, air conditioner, shelves, wardrobe and full bathroom with a set of amenities. All painted and decorated in grey, blue, white... One of the most plain and elegant places I've stayed in. We really felt like being in a 4* (or even more) hotel.

We found the cleaning service very detail- oriented. Our clothes were always folded and there was a very nice smell.

We are so happy with Home 77 and would recommend it to everybody who wants to visit Rome.

Really nice and helpful staff

The b&b it's cute , rooms are clean And modern, reception is super helpful and very friendly they even let us leave our suitcases with them after we checked out
Breakfast was nice ,everything worked perfectly in the room.
The only down point is that if you love to sleep or need a rest you can forget about it especially if you are a light sleeper, the cleaning women starts hovering early in the morning and you can hear everyone who comes and goes.
I guess we wasn't to bothered because we was trying to get up early anyway to visit the city.
The location is really good with bus stops just outside and was super easy to get around from there to any location even at late night.
We even fell in love with the lovely fornaio Valli just round the corner where we would go to eat at every chance. We really enjoyed to stay there and we thank everyone at reception.

Perfect

Lovely, practical hotel (I would personally class it as a apart-hotel), just outside the centre of Rome with a bus stop outside (the buses come every 5 minutes approx and takes 10 mins into the centre and 15 mins to the vatican). Upon arrival we were given a map, and the receptionist issued us with a wealth of information whilst writing on the map and highlighting bus routes etc (this map was our bible during our 3 day stay). The room was in the building around the corner from reception, which was fine! The room was of ample size, clean, modern decor much to our liking. It was myself, boyfriend and little sister staying in the room and I was originally worried about the size and us getting on top of each other, however this was not a issue. Our room was next to the entrance, which I had read on trip advisor could be noisy, but we slept fine! The breakfast was continental, basic but lovely, just outside your room. You load it on a tray and take it back to your room and eat in the comfort of your own room which was ideal! Excellent WIFI!

Would stay again and recommend to anyone! Perfect for Rome!
