The Name Says It All

Wedding Anniversary
Netsy Pon 08/08/2017 21:53Best friends and my husband and I were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary! We sat in the bar area to listen to music by Andy Smith. We had a wonderful time. The food was excellent starting off with seafood wontons and some had a cup of gumbo. Ladies enjoyed the grilled shrimp over lemon butter angel hair pasta with fresh spinach on top. The men had Mahi-mahi and Crab platter. Everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. After our meal the restaurant surprised us with glasses of champagne and bread pudding! It was such a delightful surprise! We met up with old friends and enjoyed Andy's wonderful music! What a wonderful night and great place to enjoy great food, great music, great service and wonderful atmosphere!! Just perfect!!
A classic in Lafayette
francoisv808on 08/08/2017 21:28If you want to be immersed into Rodrigue's paintings, mostly but not exclusively about the blue dog while enjoying some fine Cajun food, the Blue dog Cafe is the place. Local specialties but there can be wait times for dinner, it is popular.
Almost....
HoustonCoolmomon 08/08/2017 15:32I have been here a few times, I was hoping to change my mind about this place. It is really neat to see all of the artwork in the restaurant, so I would recommend taking out of town guests here. Once. But for the food itself, it just misses the mark. The menu sounds really good but the actual taste of the food is lacking. Not sure if the quality of the ingredients is the problem. Sadly I probably won't go back to this place.
So worth the trip
Mitchell Non 05/08/2017 07:26My family had dinner tonight at the Blue Dog Cafe and we couldn't have been happier. My three little girls went wild looking at all the great blue dog artwork (their fav was the beach painting) and loved the food too.
We had the seafood wontons and even my fish hating wife raved about them. She had the Louisiana Purchase and it was a great mix of pasta and chicken and Cajun flavors. I had the Bayou Chicken Teche and quickly realized why it had won so many awards. The sides of cajun corn and dirty rice could stand as a meal by themselves.
My wife has been successfully dieting for 3 weeks now but when she took one little bite of the bread pudding she said - the hell with my diet - and ate it up like she hadn't seen a meal in weeks. it was that good.
The service was quick and knowledgeable and the owner came by and genuinely asked how was our meal and were we happy and then even and brought us a doggie bag for the leftovers.
And there was a nice jazz trio playing to give us some ambiance. Just a great meal at a great restaurant with a great group of people.
Highly recommend.
