Stunning hotel with fantastic views, and very warm welcome
AndreaSaddleworthon 04/08/2017 20:42From the moment we arrived, my daughter and I were made to feel very welcome, and above all comfortable and at ease...which as a single parent is extremely important to me. Simon and Louise are lovely, genuine people who cannot do enough for you... Nothing is too much trouble, whatever it is you need, you need only ask. The room was clean and comfortable, with a huge window which let in lots of natural light, with a stunning view over the river. There is a beautiful terrace and gardens where you can relax with a glass of wine and admire the amazing scenery. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lots of character, charm and elegance. There is a pool table, library and dvd room, comfortable bar area and a swimming pool.
I can quite honestly say that I have never been made to feel more welcome and relaxed as I did at Commonwood Manor, and I will definitely be returning...very soon I hope!!
A warm welcome, then downhill from there
jellybelly10001on 31/07/2017 11:53We had a warm welcome from the housekeeper on arrival and were given a tour and history of the Manor, shown to our very small room which we had booked as "superior". When questioning the size we were told the superior aspect was the view of the river. When going to use the tiny toilet/shower room the toilet seat was soiled with excrement which was cleaned after finding the housekeeper. The bed was probably the noisiest i have ever slept in with the creaking and groaning every time you turned over waking you and your partner up, it would appear the base connecting struts were missing. Going for a shower in the morning the doors would not close properly which led to the floor getting soaked, the sealant and base were filthy(see attached photo's). Breakfast was poor the first day but the scrambled on day two was very good, we would not stay again or recommend.
WOW
Mickieobon 26/07/2017 16:31From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we couldn't have been made to feel any more welcome. Upon arrival Louise gave us a little tour of the house and showed us where everything we was. There was nothing we could have needed or wanted that Commonwood Manor didnt have, from beach towels to sunglasses!
Our room had the most spectacular view of the river, truly beautiful and the room had everything we needed. The welcome pack in our room was excellent and so handy with lots of recommendations for places to eat and things to do. I particularly liked 'don't worry if you lose your key, we have more'! Louise told me that she wanted this to feel like our home for our stay, and it really did. The facilities at Commonwood Manor are superb, I can't say I've ever stayed anywhere with a cinema room. The weather was lovely so we didn't use this or the swimming pool as we were at the beach instead but it would have been perfect for us with our 2 year old had the weather not have been so nice.
Breakfast at Commonwood Manor is fabulous. Everything you would wish for and more. Great food, so much choice and excellent service. Although you can walk into Looe in 10-15 mins we chose to drive as we have a toddler. This was easy enough, parking is cheap and the car park is huge. Looe is so pretty- lots of lovely little shops to look around, lovely places to eat and the beach is stunning.
Simon and Louise are so lovely and I've honestly never felt so welcome somewhere with a toddler. Already looking for available dates to come back. If you're debating staying here, do it!
Lovely hotel with beautiful terrace.
wendyhA1286TZon 07/07/2017 18:43Great bay windowed room with magnificent views. Owners could not do more for you. Delicious breakfast selection. Enjoyed a lovely swim in the on site swimming pool which was just the right temperature. Pool towels provided by hotel.
A lovely stay in Looe
p0rtlandsueon 07/07/2017 16:39Recently returned from a 4 day stay at Commonwood Manor and would like to say a big thank you to Louise and Simon for a lovely stay. There is free parking on site. The house is a lovely building and Louise was very proud to show us around when we arrived giving us lots of details about the place which was a nice touch. The rooms are very comfortable some with beautiful views across the river, personal touches are there with the basket of toiletries, tea, coffee, biscuits and hairdryer. Full bathroom always with plenty of hot water. Tea, coffee, cakes and fruit available anytime in the kitchen/breakfast area all included in the price. Reasonable priced wine and lovely sitting on the veranda glass of wine in hand watching the birds flying across the beautiful view. There is a covered swimming pool and towels are available to use. There is a cinema room with a wide variety of films for use at anytime, we didn't make use of it as the weather was so beautiful we were out everyday but would be useful if weather was bad. Breakfast is a welcome feast here with plenty on offer from cereals, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt and a full english. Staff are all very friendly and welcoming and make you feel comfortable and welcome. It is about a 15 minute walk into Looe downhill but is hard work on the way back if you are less able. Looe has plenty of food options but does get very busy, there is a car park just down from the railway station which is free after 6pm but again gets very busy from about 7pm onwards. All in all we had a lovely stay at Commonwood Manor Louise and Simon make you feel very much at home and the place has a lovely feel about it, would definitely return if we were in that area again.
