What People are saying

Bagara Very "Off" Blue Resort

Michelle B on 22/10/2017 06:47

We booked this online through Booking.com. We were under the impression for the cost and wording "Lovely Ocean Views" that our balcony would look straight out at the ocean . We were very disappointed as our balcony looked across to the units next door along with two large air conditioning units that were very noisy. The only Ocean view we had was if we looked out to the side and in between the two buildings not at all what we were expecting. If it was in the middle of summer you would not even use your balcony as it would have been very hot and the noise from the adjacent building next door air conditioning units and the unit on the balcony making it not all worth while. I have attached photo's. The unit itself is large and roomy but the bed in main bedroom was not at all comfortable. Unit was looking a little tired and in need of a revamp.Undercover parking is great but spaces a tad difficult to manoeuvre into depending on the unit you are staying in. Also you only received one set of keys which meant when one person went out the other had to either stay there in the unit or not go to far in case their partner came back. Pool and tennis court were reasonable and well looked after. Entry into the building to get to your unit was confusing and for us we only used staircase down to car park and then went up in lift. On the map it stated there was a Foyer but we were unsure where this was?? Our stay was okay but we would not go back there again.

Loved the look

We rang up and asked if they had smoking on the balcony and they said yes so we booked.

Next morning I was pacing and looking at all the papers and one said no smoking on this premises so I really got scared so I could not tell you if you are allowed to smoke on the premises or not as the staff said yes outside but the paper said no. Lucky I carry my own ashtray.

Walked in and it was so perfect as a full size kitchen and beautiful and also 2 recycling chairs and also a fold out bed. The bathroom was nice and also had a spa.

I was so much looking forward to staying the night and was about to book another night and omg I sat on the bed. I thought it was rocks. Seriously I have never felt a bed so hard with the spring things coming through it.

There where 3 of us. The both beds where the same. I stole the gold out bed and that was not comfortable either as you could feel the legs that go through to make it stronger. Never slept all night.

It was the best room ever but seriously you need a good sleep. I have stayed in a few places in Bargara and I think if you seriously want to stay somewhere stay in Bundy or go to the Sunny coast.

For $210 a night for no sleep it was just hell and back.

The rooms are worth it if you can bring your own blow up bed. If it was a nice comfortable bed it would have got a rating of 5 from me.

Tennis court is nice and pool looks nice.

Nicely appointed apartments

valmargfrance24 on 06/09/2017 11:22

Have stayed here a couple of times now while working in Bundaberg. Located very close to the water. Views of the sea from three directions. The 4th floor apartments are extremely well appointed. This trip I am on the 1st floor and the apartment is large enough to but is showing signs of needing a revamp. Pillows very hard and uncomfortable and kitchen and bathroom all just a little tired but a very acceptable and clean place to stay and overall extremely good value. Staff friendly and proactive in responding to needs. Undercover parking is great albeit spaces a tad difficult to maneuver into depending on the unit you are staying in. Overall worth giving a try and if it wasn't for the couple of things below par that I have mentioned I would give the overall resort a 4 + rating, certainly if I had done this review after my first stay I would have done. I will defiantly stay here again (hopefully in another apartment).

Beautiful apartment at the beach

I've stayed at the Bargara Blue many times and have always found the apartments to be clean and comfortable, and way above the standard of motel accommodation in Bundaberg itself. It's only a 15 min drive from the city centre, and well worth the commute - if I was going to live in Bundaberg, this is where it would be. Large living area, good size main bedroom & spa bath right in the room - walk in robe off the ensuite. Second bedroom decent size with full built in robe, second bathroom large and well appointed. Full size kitchen with everything you need. Balcony views from the second tower give only glimpses of the water, but it's lovely to hear the ocean at night. Large playground on the Esplanade for the kids right across the road, great walking / jogging paths, plenty of restaurants, cafes, fast food etc, 2 mins drive to Woolies & other shops, golf club right across the road (though their meals are not great). Would definitely recommend Bargara Blue!

OK, but maybe weigh your options

We stayed here for a couple of days in July 2017.

We have stayed a couple of times previously ... the place seems to be in a bit of a generally downhill slide.

The place is a bit worn and grubby (e.g. stains on the curtains, which hang strangely because curtain hooks are missing; dents and scrapes on the wall; frayed carpet edges; stains on the decorative cushions on the lounge; etc.) [Tip - the lounge is comfortable, but do not look between the seat cushions - it is not good.]

The air conditioning is not particularly effective (giving the appearance of being older and worn out), with broken/missing louvres on the indoor unit.

Parking is underground and secure, with reasonable access and decent sized spaces.

Good and strong wi-fi is included - a positive in comparison to many.

Staff were pleasant, friendly and easy to deal with. On becoming aware of our views about the cleanliness of the apartment they immediately offered a room swap.

The complex looks neat and tidy from the outside.

Location is OK. The golf club is across the road, and a range of smaller shops and cafes is about a five minute walk away.

This is, we think pleasingly, a non-smoking complex.

On balance, some good points, and some negatives.
