What People are saying
Nice location
ckatz6on 20/07/2017 21:16We were in a handicap room so everything was lowered, (Both being taller people...was a slight problem) Rooms are very dated, we had a loud side of the hotel so not much sleep, that I blame on the other guests but thin walls as well. Marina was pretty, and breakfast was expensive for what we got. Employees were very friendly. All in all I don't think it was worth the cost, will find someplace else next time.
A solid stay. Feels more than "average" 3.5 stars.
Rob Won 05/07/2017 15:40This weekend, I stayed at Barkers Island Inn for the 3rd time, my first with my family and children.
It is a fine hotel. The kids had a blast in the pool, which we spent a great many hours. While the walls might be a bit thin and the communal areas around the pool a bit hot and humid, the beds are comfortable and the staff is excellent.
The connecting restaurant makes a hell of a burger as well.
Compared to the prices of some hotels in Duluth and only being about 10 minutes away, it is a great option for those looking to save a few bucks.
Nice hotel in a beautiful location
habiojaon 12/06/2017 17:22We stayed here for 1 night while celebrating at a graduation party. Room was large, bed was very comfortable and was clean. We noticed an issue with our sink and mentioned at checkout and they surprised us by taking 10% off our bill. All of the staff we met were friendly.
Our room had a nice view of the Marina next door and we were happy to be away from the pool, so we were in a quieter area, which we like. Island trail connects to a trail called OSaugie Trail which provided a pretty place for us to take a morning run.
Our only complaint was the lack of a continual breakfast. They said they only offer that on weekdays. For a room at this price it seems reasonable to have something. All in all we would stay here again.
Decent place
Will Hon 24/05/2017 22:07I stayed overnight here. It's a beautiful location but the hotel as a whole felt a little dated. Nothing was wrong with it but it just seemed a little worn out. Exterior doors near my room slammed shut rather than closing slowly in a controlled fashion and this was annoying. The food in the restaurant was good; I always appreciate green beans that aren't overcooked! The waitress at breakfast was a hoot, full of sassy comments. The bar was small but had some good beers on tap.
A Gem Tucked Away in Wisconsin
Diane Won 23/05/2017 23:55Barkers Island Inn is actually in Wisconsin, but it's only a few miles from Duluth's Canal Park. This hotel sits right near the water, so from some of the windows, you can see the boats that are docked out there....it's absolutely beautiful. Our room was on the second floor, right above the pool area. But it wasn't a problem, because the entire pool area is enclosed in glass. We didn't smell chlorine, and noise wasn't a problem. The pool is a very good size, and there is so much seating for those who just want to relax by the pool! The room itself was so nice, the bathroom was at the back of the room, not up by the door where they are a lot of times. I really liked that. You can look out the window and watch the fishing boats on the lake. The hotel overall was very clean, it has wide corridors and beautiful carpets. The only thing that some may not like is that there is no continental breakfast. Even so, I was thrilled with our stay there and will definitely stay there next time I get up that way.
