What People are saying

Not so happy end.

Ville Kon 12/02/2014 14:33

I was staying in Hemkund Basera for alltogether almost two months. I was very happy with the stuff, accomodation, food and location. I even thought I became friends with the manager who called himself Jiipii. (or J.P) But on my last night before leaving home, I had some stuff to send home via ship. Manager told me that he could take care of that, and after some talking we agreed that he will send them on very next day. I paid him the postal fee and little extra for the effort. After few weeks of my return home there was no sign of package. I send some questions in facebook, but answer was something like: "wait, I check if I send them. Yes I send them.." soon after mr.J.P was out of facebook and I cant seem to contact him.
This is not really pointed to hotel, than this thief.
But again, if you want to make it sure that your stuff are gonna make the journey, send them yourself...
Ps. take away that picture of me and the monkey in this page.

Nice room but creepy owner...

The Hemkund Basera Hotel has some nice rooms but make sure you get one with a view and bit windows. The others are a bit gloomy and damp... But if you get one that faces the town you'll have a beautiful view! It is not the cheapest one though. We got a double room for 600. If you bargain harder you can probably get it for 500.
The owner is so creepy though and talks so much nonsense and so many lies that in the end we couldn't get away fast enough (we stayed there for a week). Several other women that we talked to had the same opinion. Sexual references, talking about his girlfriend/wife/mistress, wanting to heal us with his supposedly ayurvedic massage techniqes, and so on. The list is long.
So place is nice but keep a distance to that guy. And stay away from the restaurant by the way. It's nothing much.

nice hostel on the top of the hill

nice hostel in beautiful rishikesk. dont expect luxury, but also no luxury prices. The boss is an ayurvedic doctor and has a great variety of oils and treatments like masages, just ask him for that, he is really a sweetheart and treats his guests like if they were family. A really heart warming, welcoming place. ask him and he will take you to beautiful places in the mountains, to see some big waterfalls and really amazing nature full of butterflies... its nicer and cheaper than to go to the travel agencies.
