Good hotel
P4INTKILLRon 28/02/2016 17:48We stayed in this hotel for a week-end with 3 couple of friends.
We booked 4 double-bedrooms (Categorie Top) for 250 CHF per room per night. Rooms were very nice and very large. There all had 4 beds inside.
The hotel as a Sauna (free), a restaurant and a bar. The staff was very friendly :D
The hotel is really well positionned in Arosa, 200m from a public parking (5 CHF per day).
The only down side was the wifi (free) which is not available in the rooms but only at the reception/restaurant.
It delivers on its name, and then a bit more!

3mins walk from Arosa's Zentrum Bus Stop
Friendly, young staff
Hearty breakfast
Nice ski room, warm boots, mmmm :)
Cons
Staff is not the most experienced, clearly they are learning
Reception closes, which is not normal in a hotel
In the breakfast, we found it odd that no lemon was given, even when asked for
Overall,I would recommend it.
Very good
Lazybungleon 18/04/2015 06:32As a coach driver we had too park in chur at the park and ride then get a bus to the station then a train up the mountain and then a walk in the snow uphill to the hotel arosa is so beautiful you dont mind the walk but it was worth it The name of the hotel does not do it justice it's much better than the name suggests the beds are comfy and the rooms are warm the balcony has a great view from any room The showers are powerful but if ur 6ft you may struggle as the bathroom has a drop celing and there is no room between ur head and the celing in the shower you have to duck down breakfast is great lots of choice and the staff are so friendly great as a base 5 min walk from the station whilst there I did the pink walk and the views were breathtaking top marks thank you
Working week, doing a course
skileaderon 08/04/2013 21:16Booked onto the ASCL course being offered by the Ski Co very late and was told very last minute that it would be in Arosa at the Basic Hotel. The name made me think I was going to have a rough time. The hotel is about 200 metres from the railway staion and we walked up (unfortunately the railway was closed due to a landslide but the post bus service stepped in) Our baggage was taken by taxi and unloaded ready for us to find. It was snowing. We arrived with a school group as part of the transport too and from the UK so getting into our rooms was a little chaotic compounded by over booking by ????. My room was small, twin bunk beds and fairly tight on space, though it did have a balcony and a nice shower/bathroom. Well finished and once I had bled the radiators warm and comfortable. The other rooms were very varied, some were palatial, with sofas, sitting rooms and double balconies, others smaller but all seemed to be well equipped. They had a notice in the room that it wouldn't be cleaned all week but fresh towels were available at reception. Other rooms were cleaned every 3 days, it didn't seem to be very rational. If I liked the room then the rest of the hotel was basic. Open spaces were limited especially when the staff had time off to ski, they locked the restaurant area etc so you ended up on the corridor or your room if you stayed in the hotel. Food was variable, breakfast as a buffet was great, but lunch was a single sandwich and bar of chocolate/or fruit bar, that could have been down to the ski company who decided how much to provide or hotel. The evening meal always had a salad bar, a soup which was supposed to be vegetarian but one the pea/lentil soup definitely had ham bits in it. Main meals were very simple with rice or pasta plus a meat dish. Vegetarians had a more haphazard menu, you had to ask at the servery where they cleared plates for a vegetarian main meal, it was a bit basic, one night pasta with vegetables cooked in it, another Polenta fried as wedges, If you are not fussy it was ok, if you are anything other then it left something to be desired. I ate out 3 times in the evening.
Ski room was a little chaotic but that could be simply because of the number of people using it and there lack of initiative on how to store skis and boots though it didn't really cater for 100+ clients. Basic but the staff were nice and listened to you to try and help you get the service you required. Would I go there again, yes with a school party
Great for a week of Skiing
jameshealey4on 20/04/2012 23:16If you are in Arosa for skiing its fantastic. As People have said before 'Basic' is an understatement. The rooms and hotel is clean, and the food is great. Staff are also friendly and really helpful. Only Improvements would be to improve the Wifi in the reception as it is prone to shutting off, due to the large amounts of people using it.
