Believe me .. Don't book in this dirty hotel
suz55555on 30/07/2017 00:28It's the most nasty and dirty place that I have ever seen ... we entered the room that was non smoking! With a smell of cigarettes!
First of all there was hair on the dirty bed.. it seems like they didn't clean the room .. and behind the top of the bed there were many flys dead with a dust on them (and there were many of them on the sofa ) actually it seems like they didn't clean the room ever!!!!
The sink wasn't in the bathroom.. it was near the bed in that tiny room and was also very stinky ...
There was dust everywhere! And dirt on the wall ... it was a nightmare!!!
When we told the manager and the housekeeping head they were impolite and told us why you booked in a low price hotel(actually it was not low price) and when we asked him to move us to another room he refused and told us you have to pay more!!!!
And he saw me taking photos to the room he said (take photos it doesn't matter with me)
And sent a guy with a wiper to remove the flys only !!!!!!
Actually we were booking in another hotel (rosli) but they sent us to this hotel (baslertor) because they both have the same reception and manager so we stayed in baslertor ....
I would never recommend this sickening hotel ever !!!!!!!!! And if there was worse than terrible I would but.
Terrible hotel
Saleh Yon 26/07/2017 20:48Very dirty hotel, dead flies everywhere, the furniture is very old, the housekeeping supervisor (Asian guy ) is very rude and he had no problem we take fotos of the dirt , we booked at another hotel ( Rosli) and they put us in this terrible hotel , I don't recommend it at all .
Zero Star Hotel at 4 Star Prices
188048Michaelon 23/03/2017 16:59The good news: the hotel is very close to the centre of the old town; it is reasonably clean (apart from the mildew on the bathroom ceiling) and reasonably quiet (provided the windows are kept shut).
The reception was taciturn to say the least. Without wasting superfluous words on things like “Good Afternoon”, we were told to fill the registration form, informed that there would be no breakfast and told to pay in advance (without being offered a bill). Normally in a 3-star hotel the reception should be open most of the day, but at the Baseltor check-in the convenience of the staff comes before that of the guests and it is not possible to check in before 16:00 and check-out is at 10:00 latest. We were told that we should take the key with us when going out in the evening because the door would shut at mid-night. In fact, we arrived back at 23:30 and the door was already locked and there was nobody at the reception.
Another usual expectation for a 3-star hotel is there should be drinks available in the room. Our room had no mini-fridge, but there was a single small bottle of warm water sitting next to the cupboard at the price of CHF 5 (normal shop price no more than CHF 1).
The room did have a TV – placed high on the wall in a corner where it would be impossible to watch.
Since there was no breakfast in the hotel, we were given a list of nearby cafés which would serve breakfast. However, we were disappointed the next morning to find that all were closed (except one which was packed and had no seats available)!
Our room was reasonably large but in addition to our double bed, there was another double bunk bed and a folding bed making it uncomfortably crowded. It’s difficult to imagine how 5 people could sleep in the room.
The view from the window was dreary. Despite being a non-smoking room, there was a lingering smell of stale cigarettes.
The room was clean but the bed and bathroom linen were all frayed and the pillows filled with an uncomfortable cheap foam rubber.
All this would have been tolerable in a 1- or no star hotel – but not in a theoretically 3-star hotel charging CHF 250 per night. Note: Their web site gives the price range for a double room as being between CHF 99 and CHF 250 depending on season. I checked several (out of season) dates – they all came up with the same price: CHF 250!
Not a good advertisement for Swiss tourism!
Comfortable stay. Huge rooms. (Had booked hotel Roesli)
Gayatri_Netherlandson 28/11/2016 14:22+ The actual hotel Roesli (where our booking was) was across the street & we were put up in Hotel Basseltor. Roesli seems to be closed or 'taken over' by Bastion. But no complaints, both hotels are of the same quality.
+ The rooms are huge for the price you pay.
+ Big & well equipped bathrooms.
- No water Kettle in the room.
- The double bed was 2 single beds pushed together. There was a gaping hole in between the 2 matrasses. We could also feel the spring in the matrasses :-(
- Room, Furniture & carpets were a little old.
- No restaurant or breakfast in the hotel
The worst experience ever and the rudest staff
Medi Yon 03/09/2016 10:44When we entered the room we noticed a strange smell. After a while we figured out where it came from. One of the mattress had a huge urine stain (still wet). After contacting the reception they sent us a staff from the cleaning team. We asked him to change the mattress but they did not have any others so they simply turned it around and replaced the coverage of the mattress (but did not change the one from the blanket). After telling my opinion to the staff they got rude and judged my way i was talking to them and made me clear that they were aware of the fact that the mattress was fully soaked through urine.
So that means they were aware of this issue but did not warn us or talked to us. Did they really think we would not have noticed it?!
In the end we payed for 5 beds but we only could use 4 of them.
Worth mentioning it: we were aware of the fact that we cannot expect high maintenance/ quality. But they cannot expect us to sleep in urine either.
DISASTER!
