Happy family stay

I read reviews for years back on this hotel and booked with some reservations.
But just home after staying four nights and very happy with the hotel on balance.
It's best features are the pool, gardens, setting and location, and friendly front of house staff.
We all found the restaurant a good experience but having negotiated breakfast into our room rate I didn't feel quite the pain of others. We had one gastro dinner here and it was good but not exceptional. However the terrace on which dinner is served is very special and there is a lovely atmosphere.
I did feel all the restaurant staff seemed rushed and overworked. One or two looked like they didn't want to be there but these two points might be linked.
Our rooms were a little old fashioned with little space to put things but this is an old and not a modern hotel. Pillows need upgrading! Bathrooms very nicely done.

Over-rated

Sadly, a smell-in-the-side-wing-room problem already spotted in an earlier review hadn't been fixed and when we mentioned it to reception they didn't win an Oscar in their hearing about it for the first time...

Beyond that, despite the setting, the delivery of "social attentions" seemed to always fall short of the mark, starting with but one soap etc in the bathroom to an overpriced breakfast price...

They did agree on the pool design defect for lap swimmers however...

This place is out in the middle of no-where but once you come upon it, it is grand. The check-in process was easy and fast. The romantic room was rather large for European standards for our family of 4. There was plenty of storage, a mini-frig and a coffee maker in the room. The bathroom was very large, but the shower has no doors - making a bit of a mess on the floor. The toiletries in the room were very nice and smelled great. Our room had AC (which is so not common for Europe) and was greatly appreciated during the warm night!! Our room overlooked the pool and the restaurant, yet was so quiet. We had dinner outside and it was just the best. They had a special kids meal and coloring supplies for our daughter and plenty of room for the stroller with our other child. The food was very very good and the service was great. The pool was a nice treat after a day out in the heat and super close to the hotel. We didn't have breakfast so I cannot commend on the buffet. I only wish we could have stayed another night! Great stay!!

Utterly french experience at this hotel - stunning location, beautiful rustic hotel and cuisine. Outdoor restaurant was best I have experienced. Staff exceptional. Local hill top and decadent village about 100 yards away. Perfect stop.

Nice grounds and dinner al fresco.

Nice domain well situated in the heart of Provence. Beautiful grounds with olive trees, pool and tennis. The room was comfortable, with good bedding. Pillows could be better. Wi-Fi was spotty, not good. We never got it to connect in our room. Nowadays, one would expect good Wi-Fi everywhere in such a place. TV was limited too, no English speaking news channel. We had dinner al fresco, and the weather was ideal. The restaurant was good but expensive with a service that could be improved. We had foie gras (a small portion was 29 euros) and a very small (250gr) langouste was 42 euros. A nice stay but small and easy improvements could be made.
