A hotel that ticked our boxes
Paul Bon 09/08/2017 22:14I took a while to choose a hotel in this town. I am glad I chose this one! It was ideal for us.
It was close enough to the town centre. There is a large car park very close to hotel at reasonable 24 hour rate. The room was clean and practical.
The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. There was even a pool table in the lobby area that was free to play! Did'nt have the breakfast there as had leave early . It did seem a little expensive at 15 euros anyway.
Not 4 star
Keith Mon 08/08/2017 08:48Upon arrival had to queue for over 30 minuets to check in.only one receptionist working while 2 other staff stood talking to each other. It was similar at checkout . Room was small and not very clean, bathroom was tiny nowhere to put personal toiletries.Would give this hotel a miss.
Great Location
Poppy12Derbyon 24/07/2017 20:52Nice hotel, only a short walk from the main town, we were welcomed by Melvin at reception, checked in reasonably quickly and offered a choice of room ( ground floor, front of hotel or at the back where it was quieter ), Melvin was very helpful during our stay, and took time to ensure we were happy with everything. We stayed in room 514 at the back as the road at the front of the hotel can a be a bit busy and noisy as the road is cobbled. Room was clean and tidy, beds were comfortable and the fridge was a useful addition in which we stored the free bottles of water provided. a safe is provided free of charge in which we could put our passports and money securely. Meals were very acceptable, breakfast was ok, and evening menu had a reasonable choice and not expensive. We should also give a mention to the lovely young lady serving behind the bar who has the great name of Hallelujah, nothing was too much trouble and she made time to answer any questions we had. Now for the bad points, despite it being a large room there were no draws to put clothes in and hanging space was difficult for two people as it was so small. A small table with a tray of cups and tea and coffee and a kettle was provided, with no room for anything else. The bathroom needs a rethink for people of below 5ft in height, the towel rack is too high above the toilet, it should be on the wall at the end of the shower cubicle, also a shelf is needed in the shower to stand your shower and hair toiletries. The spare toilet roll is on a holder on the wall by the door way too high and not convenient if you run out whilst using the toilet. Air con is provided but not very efficient, so we opened a window, there were two but only one opened !! I would stay here again and in that room as it was quiet and if more storage was provided and the changes were made in the bathroom.
Poor experience
WojtekBeon 21/07/2017 09:14I had a "pleasure" to stay in Bastion Hotel for 2 weeks in July due to my business trip. First thing that comes to my mind when thinking about this hotel is that why it has "Deluxe" in its name. Here are some of my opinions about this place:
1. Room
- very dark, lights installed in the room, prevent any work. To have some more light you need to open bathroom door.
- chemical smell. I am not sure if it was cleaning liquids used by the staff or it just was like that. Whole day window remained open to get rid of it.
- room service worked in strangely way - once they only made a bed and left bathroom untouched. Once they skipped my room, once wet towels laying on the floor (hoped for change) was hung on again
- furniture in room have signs of wearing off
- beds were ok
2. Additions
- first time when I was in this hotel when asked about ironing board I got something that looked like saved from the fire. This time I got ironing board without case. I had to use towel to iron anything
- bathroom was ok, hairdryer worked without problems
- fridge - once it was on, once it was off
- TV - if you planning to watch any English program be prepared that its all about noise seen on the screen.
3. Breakfast
- generally it was good. Large variety of everything, including fruits
- once I ordered a pancake and well. One was a bit burned, second one was pancake in shreds.
4. Staff
- not much interaction with the staff but reception service - no complains, staff present during breakfast - helpful.
General impression - wouldn't want to stay here next time I will be in Maastricht for that long time. Hotel has great potential as it is close to the city center. People are coming there I guess during this two weeks it was almost full. So maybe managers would decide to make some investments?
Disappointing
lindawaidsonon 18/07/2017 15:11Depressing rooms . Supposed to be deluxe nothing deluxe about it at all .
No bath only a shower and no slippers dressing gowns or even tissues ! Extremely basic.
We paid quadruple the usual room rate because ANDRÉ RIEU was in town the whole purpose of our visit . We understand the reason for the increase in the rate but a few extras would have been appreciated .
