A pleasant stay overall but pretty average. Rather expensive for what you get.

My husband and I decided to take a weekend in June 2017 and go to the Tawas area to spend some quality time together. We typically stay in chain lodging, but the Tawas area does not have any chain hotels. The Bay Inn seemed like a decent option even though it was rather expensive for the night we were there. (I think we paid something like $140 or $150 for the night. It was a weekend during peak tourist season, but still... we wished it would have been a little more reasonably priced.)

We arrived at about 2:00 on the Saturday afternoon. The check-in process went okay. Our room on the second floor (#214) was sufficiently clean and comfortable. No complaints about the room at all.

This hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub which came in very handy for us because the weather was unseasonably cool and we couldn't really go swimming at any of the local beaches. There was a bit of a problem with the hot tub because some kind of circuit went out and we couldn't get the jets to work after they had been working for the first 10-15 minutes that we were sitting in the hot tub. We mentioned something to one of the front desk staff, and he said he just needed to go in and reset the circuit or whatever. It was not too fun sitting in tepid water.

We liked the fact that this hotel has a computer in the lobby that guests can use for checking the Internet. (There are certain things I don't use my smartphone for that I prefer to have an actual computer for, so I appreciated that convenience.)

Breakfast looked pretty basic. Like most hotels, there was a waffle iron and the other usual food/beverages that you find at hotels. We decided to go to a restaurant instead. (I guess we are a bit picky when it comes to hotel breakfast.)

Anyway, our stay was fine. We might consider staying there again, but it wasn't worth the amount we paid. I guess there's just a high demand for lodging in the Tawas area on summer weekends. Oh well.

Great value, convenient location

This is an older Hotel but very clean. The front desk guy, Dave, was very helpful with suggestions for local dining and entertainment. He also carried our bags to our room - there is no elevator. The lobby area was clean with a nice little sitting room and breakfast provided. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a loud train but it didn't bother us.

Return visit, stuff not fixed.

My last review of this place was replied to by management saying they took care of the issues with wifi and the breakfast bar but still had issues. The wifi for the most part was fixed but now it seems that the routers aren't allowing enough connections for everyone as I kept getting no connections available on at least one device. The breakfast bar still has issues with the waffles, they were doughy and the batter was too thin the 2nd day and looked like they were from the day before. Apple juice is still nasty. Orange juice was watered down and not mixed properly.

I checked in on a business trip. The A/C was broken in the lobby so it was stuffy in the lobby. Luckily the rooms were fully functional. All in all the room was ok. Nothing special to praise or complain about.

The breakfast would have been better if it was all ready at the time it was supposed to be ready. I had to find my own plate and gave up finding a hard boiled egg.

I will stay again as it was a good clean option.

The staff were all very friendly. The room clean and welcoming. Glad they accommodate for pets. So close to the beach and many other places. The breakfast was so much more than other places. Very relaxing...really enjoyed the hot tub and exercise room. A great experience.
