Full of character
nkosi3113on 21/07/2017 17:40Oldest hotel most of us will ever stay in. The Pilgrim Founding fathers of America knew it. Experience it for yourself. Remember that 'full of character ' means good bits and bad bits. Bad bits are old, creaky, wonky floors, bad plumbing, low ceilings, draughty windows etc etc.So what, go on have a night oh history.
Wonderful breakfasts

Beds were awful though, I think they were as old as the place itself...(16th century) and the carpet was almost threadbare and was crunchy. 😜I would not walk on it barefoot. There was a seagull nest on the roof right by our window and they chattered extremely loudly during the night! This was the most expensive B&B we stayed in on our U.K. Trip. I loved that it was a 16th century building, but the rooms need to have better beds and a major update for the money charged!

local juices, salmon and ham as well as the great British breakfast along with generous other options..Dinner quite decent. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Along with the history of Dartmouth and Bayard's Cove itself, location is it's number one selling point. I just wish they would locate some beds that were comfortable and worthy of the higher than average prices for a quality B&B in the UK/Dartmouth area. The bed we had in the Nelson room was awful....lumpy and thin. Absolutely not worth the high price of the tariff. My son thought it was an original from the time of the building...Could/should have been a 5 star..Worthy but be aware.

Lisa Son 29/06/2017 09:55We stayed as a family of 5 (three children 9-14) in a very comfortable family suite. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was absolutely superb. Dartmouth is so very charming and even with non-stop rain we had a wonderful walk around the village and to the castle and beyond. Big thumbs up to the Bayards Cove Inn.

Stephanie Non 29/06/2017 08:25Thoroughly recommend Bayards Cove Inn. Staff very welcoming. Rooms very smart, clean and airy. All facilities you could want. Bed very comfortable. Excellent breakfast and food in restaurant sooooo good we had all our evening meals there.
Situated in perfect place right near the Dart River and central to Dartmouth town so perfect for anyone not able to walk far and cannot do hill walking. Suited my disabled husband perfectly
