Shopping & Dinner

My husband and I were taking advantage of not having any kids for the weekend. Yes! We decided to visit Smithfield, NC for their Outlet Mall and have dinner at Buffaloe Wild Wings to enjoy the PPV that Saturday night, and didnt want to make the long drive back home afterwards. So, we searched for a hotel close by...and the Baymont Inn & Suites for practically right next door! So instead of worrying about a long drive after the UFC fights were over, I could relax and enjoy the event and dinner.
The hotel room was spacious enough. There was a nice flat screen tv on the wall. The only thing was, I needed captions and the cc button on the remote wouldnt work it, so we had to figure out the buttons for manual control. Took about 30 minutes, but we finally got it. Thing was, everytime we turned the tv off, came back to turn it on, the captions had to be reset, but no problem. The bed was comfortable, the air worked nicely, I had to turn the water knob a bit more than usual for the hot water to kick in, but it was okay. The bath tub mats in the tub can be a little tricky. They were the kind that had thick bubble type stuff. It feels good on your feet, but can cause a fall if not careful. There was a microwave, mini refridgerator, and coffee maker with coffee packs. Rooms come with free wifi, which was not always usuable, and free breakfast consisting of boiled eggs, sausage, waffles you make, cereal, yogurt, juices and coffee. I think there may have been some fruit. Checkout time is 11am. They have free newspapers, but they sere all gone by the time I went in for breakfast. There is a lot of stores and places to eat around this whole area. Exit for it is off of I-95.
Not such a great visit!

I had stayed with this property on several previous trips. However, the overall management seems to have changed, and not for the good. When I went to check in, the two ladies working the front desk were listening to loud music in the lobby and it appeared that I was more trouble than they wanted, just to check me in. I had reserved a non-smoking room. My room smelled like an ashtray! The bed smelled absolutely disgusting. I couldn't sleep at all, even though I had my own pillow with me, because of the smell. There appeared to me not attention to housekeeping. The shampoo and conditioner bottles that they leave out complimentary were only 1/3 full - OK, I don't use them anyway, but that's a obvious sign that someone isn't paying attention. I won't be back, and I'm a Wyndham Diamond member. I was so disgusted I didn't try the breakfast...I just wanted to leave!
will never stop there

The internet didn;t want to connect and finally when it did it was so so slow that we finally gave up trying to use it. The security lock on the top of the door was removed, so if someone knocked you could't open the door the few inches only. The floor lamp was damaged. I told the clerk in the morning about all that and all she said was I'm sorry.

I really liked this hotel with the drive up rooms. I typically stay at Super 8 but will take Baymont from now on.
