Historic B&B in Fantastic Location

The original home of the man who built the famous Vinoy Resort & Golf Club across the street, Beach Drive Inn is right on the edge of the historic preservation district next to all the new development of fancy condos, restaurants and shops on Beach Drive. The location couldn't be better as it sits kitty corner to the park and Marina and is walking distance to everything - seawall path, yacht club, aquatic center, Dali Museum, etc.
There is a parking spot for each of the 6 rooms which is important as parking is limited in the area.
Twenty-five minutes from Tampa Airport and 20 minutes to St. Pete Beach. Easy to get there, straight shot off the expressway onto 4th street for a few blocks and you are there.
The house is 1920's vintage with lots of antique furniture, hardwood floors, a great veranda to enjoy breakfast, formal dining room, reading area etc. The owner Roland is very attentive and has set up all kinds of little touches like a firepit on the side, evening happy hour and so on.
We stayed in the Sunshine room on the second floor with it's cantilevered canopy bed that requires a step stool to climb up into. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom is small as adding bathrooms to what were originally bedrooms required converting closets to bathrooms. With no closet in the room Roland has placed a huge dresser for putting away clothes and a clothes butler and bar for things you need to hang. We peeked into a couple of the other rooms on the second floor that face the street and they seemed larger.
We loved the whole experience and thought it was very good value for the money. We'll stay there again next time we are in St. Pete.
Amazing B&B

We stayed at this wonderful place for 2 nights : very different from the ordinary motels: terrific atmosphere, tasty, homemade breakfast, good outdoor facilities, at a walking distance to restaurants and other facilities. We highly recommend this B&B. Lene and Torben, Denmark

Unfortunately we never were able to make a reservation to know how the Beach Drive Inn Bed & Breakfast is. My Mother decided to spend one more night at her condo in Downtown St Pete. My Brother, Sister & myself decide to come over from north Tampa to take her to dinner & for us to have a night of Family fun downtown. I called to see what rooms they had available & the young lady told me to go online. When I asked do you only do reservations online? She responded she could take it over the phone but needed to know which rooms we wanted. I stated I know we need one with a King bed & before I could ask about also needing 2 other rooms, she cut me off & told me to go online. So I googled & they came up on a discount site, so I searched & saw that pretty much ALL ROOMS were available & the price was lower on the discount site. I know that hotels usually have to pay these sites so I called the young woman back & asked if she could honor the discount site price, which she replied no. So I'm thinking I have the young lady on the phone (I like talking to a person when I can) and for $20 more I can tell her what rooms we want & maybe she could put us close together, We'll be close to my Mothers condo, & to Beach Drive Restaurants but again she cuts me off & says I can pick & give all the info to the discount site, when I said but I have you on the phone now & I'm willing to pay the higher rate. She rudely with a huge sigh states "FINE". At this point I said would we be better staying somewhere else? OMG! Her response floored me "You can stay where ever you want, it really doesn't matter to me" I asked if she was the Manager which she replied NO, why? If this is the type of person they have at their front desk & the customer service they offer we will stay at the Vinoy again the next time my Mother is in town. OR AT THE INN ON THIRD OR ANY OTHER PLACE THAN HERE! It's no wonder they had all rooms available. It's really sad as it appears really cute on their website & passing on the street.
Charming, Cozy, Clean and Spacious!

My hubby and I stayed here for date night and it was wonderful. Our suite was in the main house upstairs. It was very well appointed with nice furnishings and decor. The bed was heavenly! The room was spacious and bright. We absolutely loved it and will stay here again for sure!

Inn keepers were nice enough when we arrived just in time for 4th of July fireworks. The outside has a lot of charm. Location is great. But that is about it. The whole place is old and worn. It is in need of a huge revamping. Breakfast is only served for an hour and selection is minimal. Our bathroom was so tiny. The mirror wasn't even over the sink - my husband had a hard time shaving. This place could be so cute with a bit of work.
