Great Beaches Negril family vacation, 15 July 2017
BillnLindaAZon 22/07/2017 01:53We went to Beaches Negril Jamaica July 7-15, 2017 bringing our two daughters’ families; with four grandchildren. The weather was hot but pleasant, the staff were all very friendly, pools, children focused events, water slides, water parks and ocean activities were great fun, the food and drink was plentiful and good! This is a very Family Oriented resort with lots of kids and kids’ activities (making the grand kids very happy), and the adults had fun too. We decided on an extra day, arriving on Friday to avoid the ‘usual’ large amounts of arrivals on Saturday. (Two previous trips to Club Meds made for lessons learned.) Beaches staff met us in the MBJ airport, after customs; verified the departure bus and had a very nice waiting room available. There are nine eateries at the resort varying in food style (Italian, Sushi, Mexican, Japanese, BBQ, Jamaican, French Café, Pizza) and presentation (buffet, à la carte, reservations); all very good. Evening shows were clean and entertaining, and started at a good time for kids to get to bed by 9:30pm. Departure times and bag pick-up was well coordinated, and we got back to the airport with plenty of time to process through customs.
Just a couple items to be aware of:
- The Beaches resort staff are on a no-tip policy, but the airport baggage handlers, shuttle bus drivers, and large catamaran boat tour staff expect tips (have some cash available!)
- Hotwire initially programmed my Friday arrival to be a 1130PM (it took me awhile to catch and correct this).
- I made three room reservations via the web. Somehow two of the three were changed after the original “reservation email” was sent to me. After we caught the problems, the operators at the 800-Beaches were able to correct the changed "amount owed."
- When you go snorkeling you MUST wear the life preserver—“It’s the rules Man.” Don’t plan to get up-close underwater photos.
- Look for Adrian, Shamar and Odane on the resort; all great guys!
Don't worry mon...everytings gonna be alright! : )
Kristin Kon 21/07/2017 22:44We are a family of four, visited Beaches Negril in June 2017 and have been to the Beaches- Turks & Caicos resort in the summer of 2016. Overall we really enjoyed our experience. Beaches has a nice lounge at the Montego Bay airport where you can sit and relax after getting your luggage and clearing customs (side note: our bags arrived quickly and clearing customs took all of 15 minutes). It is equipped with two soda fountain dispensers, private restrooms as well as three small rooms filled with couches and tables. It was also fantastic that it was air-conditioned. Make sure to come with lots of $1 bills so that you can tip though...We tipped the man who watched our bags for us (Beaches employee) while we waited in the lounge and we tipped the baggage man (airport employee) who actually took our bags to our transportation. The ride from the airport to the resort was roughly 1 hour and 10 minutes or so on paved roads. We had minimal traffic but were told that can be VERY variable. We tipped our driver about $10 once we arrived but we also saw another family tip $5. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and as a Butler Elite guest were directed to a private lounge to sit while we checked in. There were cookies and drinks available which was nice. Our room was ready when we arrived and was stocked with soda, water and selected alcohol like promised. We were a bit disappointed that our Butler hadn't yet received our preferences, but were told the computers had been down and he couldn't access them. The beaches at this resort were very nice (soft, white sand...warm water) and well patrolled by resort security staff. Any local beach vendors who walk up and down the beach were not allowed to get within 35 feet of where the huts and lounge chairs are located. We didn't feel harassed at all. There's plenty to do with the water sports (but remember, this does NOT include motorized sports like parasailing, etc) and the XBox lounge was a favorite with our son. We enjoyed all our food with the exception of one restaurant (Venetian) and found all the employees to be extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, we felt like this resort delivered on their promises. We felt pampered, the facilities are well kept and our kids didn't run out of fun stuff to do. Also, unlike Turks & Caicos, this resort is not overwhelmingly large, so we were able to set up a base (i.e. our hut on the beach) and then felt comfortable letting our 9 and 11 year old go to their favorite place while we relaxed by the beach.
My Home Away from Home
dlschell5on 19/07/2017 04:48We visited once again Beaches Resort in Negril June 1-9. This was our 2nd trip to the resort and before we left we booked our 3rd trip May 2018! We truly feel like this is our 2nd home in more ways than one. First of all the resort is beautiful and the staff is amazing. From the first moment we arrived until the day we had to say goodbye I couldn't have asked for more of an amazing experience. We all made many memories and lifelong friends with many at the resort. Having such amazing staff is one of the main reasons we keep coming back to the resort. If you get a chance please get acquainted with the entertainment staff! Odane, Leo, Jaro and Delano were amazing. They made our stay perfect. My daughter had the best time every day and night attending all the entertainment with this staff. Odane is an amazing entertainer and made our whole family feel so welcome at Beaches. Leo is an amazing singer and so much fun! We loved the DJ Jaro along with Delano who made sure we were always enjoying our time there. The photographer Nicolette did my daughters senior pictures while we were there and she was amazing! Thank you again to Beaches Resort and we can't wait to come home! See you in May!
Vacation of a life time!
lakegirl201726on 19/07/2017 04:33Beaches Resort in Negril is absolutely amazing! This was my first trip to an all-inclusive and I was not disappointed. Clean rooms, property is well taken care of, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The entertainment staff is incredible. Odane, Leo, Delano, Jaro, and Llyod are so talented and wonderful individuals. Each day, they would all make a point to see me, ask about my day, and involve me in activities when they didn't have to. Thank you Beaches for employing people who truly care about your guests and want the guests to have the best experience they can. Highly recommended for families. I felt very safe walking around by myself anytime day or night. The resort offers a variety of activities for all ages and nightly events to attend. Can't wait to go back in 2018!!
Fantastic Trip!
Grace Son 19/07/2017 04:22My family and I came to Beaches Negril two years ago and fell in love. We came back to the resort a few weeks ago and had another great experience. The room, the activities, and the shows were some of the great things to do every day. The best part about the resort is the people who make it worth while. I met some great friends. Leo, Odane, Lloyd, Delano, Jaro, and Prince were all people that made my trip amazing. As members of the entertainment staff, they made every day more fun than the previous one. They gave their all to make our trip the best it could be and I am happy to say we have booked our third trip there for next May! I cannot wait to see these people again and meet new ones as well!
