What People are saying

Beaches Doesn't Disappointed

VJLee123on 25/05/2017 17:04

Stayed at Beaches May 20th weekend for a wedding and I must say that it was all that I expected. I stayed in the Caribbean and had family in the French Village and Italian Village. If I return I would stay in the Italian Village, it is more pricey but when you get there you will see why. Much more luxurious. The campus is huge it's the #1 or #2 employer on the island. I had a Caribbean garden view and got exactly what I paid for. The room was nice and clean....nothing grand. Complimentary drinks in the fridge and a nice balcony. I would have upgraded to the Italian or a Villa closwr to the pools and beach area. Needless to say this resort has something for everyone, quiet pools....fun activity pools.....kid friendly pools with tons of activities. The food was really good for an all inclusive the Jerk Shack was our favorite spot and Napoli Pizza by the Caribbean pool. We enjoyed the Hibachi restaurant, make reservations early and Sushi which were both good. There are 29 restaurants so you are bound to find something you like.

This is a tip free resort which was a huge plus but I also think it impacts some of the workers being more laxidazical. No vendors hounding you on the beach. The beach is shallow, but long. The sand is flower soft and the water is a bright teal blue. I have been to allot of beaches and this is by far in the top 3.

The entertainment was plenty for all ages and tastes with a chocolate night feast in the French Village on Monday night. In Key West Village is a huge water park and all the little kids activities that we adults also enjoyed. More low end fast food places with all the kid favorites and characters roaming. Tuesday morning is the character breakfast and Friday night is the big beach party so consider that when booking. I spent minimal money because everything was included. The shops on the resort are pricey, I broke my shades and they were selling them for $45....no name brand. I found the entire island to be a little pricey, but that was expected. US currency is accepted and returned to you in change everywhere.

We had a driver Reuben (649- 246-8190) who take us on a tour of town. He was awesome! We found the town to be clean, friendly, safe and less oppressed than other islands. We hit Sandbar night club and Danny Boi's in Grace Bay. He also took us another day to Boogaloo's restaurant on the water which was well worth it, the food was fresh.....Red Snapper market price was about $35.00. Drinks were great and the water and sand at the restaurant was better than the resorts. There is a live band at dusk most days so I would time your trip to enjoy that while you eat.

Few areas of improvement;
-Would suggest the staff to clean up towels and cups faster.
-The hotel cuts your WiFi from your room pass code before checkout time the day you depart.
-Add more pool side waiters in addition to the many swim up bars
-Upgrade some of the decor at the lower end village pool areas.

Great Time Again

Joanne Eon 25/05/2017 03:31

This was our second visit to Beaches and we enjoyed ourselves again! My husband and son were able to complete the diving portion of their certification while down there. Each time they went out scuba diving they went to a different reef. The snorkeling was great as well. We saw sea turtles several times, sting rays, and beautiful colored fish. We enjoyed all our meals. Our favorite place to have dinner was at Sapodilla's. Craig was our waiter while dining there. Craig was on target with his meal recommendations, he was attentive and entertaining. Thanks Craig for making our dining experience special! Beaches really improved their food presentation compared to our trip last year. Great job guys! We also noticed that the staff this year was extremely friendly compared to last year as well. We had no issues with the staff last year, but this year they were over the top friendly, Again, great job guys! We stayed at the Caribbean Resort. We requested the same room as the previous year and our wishes were granted! We were in the same exact room. We love all the amenities offered at Beaches. We are beach people and you cannot beat the beautiful blue water and white sand. We walked about 3 miles per day enjoying all the activities and restaurants offered. The water sports offered are snorkeling (reservations required the day before), windsurfing, kayaks, paddle boards, catamaran sailboats, and big wheeled bikes for two. There were plenty of chairs at the pools and beach during our stay. The only issue that we experienced was one day trying to get drinks at the Italian Village pool bar. The bar was out of four different liquors, and there were only two bartenders so it took about 20 minutes to finally get a drink. Besides that day, we had no problems getting the drinks we wanted. We also participated in some of the sporting activities offered like water polo and beach volleyball. We had a good time and met a lot of fun people from all different areas. Leo was one of the directors who organizes and participates in the sports. He is very athletic. Great job Leo and Company the kids had fun! Thanks Beaches for helping us make another memorable family vacation.

Excellent All Inclusive

There are over 10K review on trip advisor so I will try to provide some straight points of view:

1. Cannot beat the beach water / sand
2. Room - Stayed in the French Village. The furthest from the beach - it took me a whopping 6 minutes to walk from the French Village pool to the ocean.
3. Staff - for the most part extremely friendly. If you ask them for directions most of them will literally walk you to your destination.
4. Grounds - beautiful, they do an amazing job of keeping this large property looking great 24/7
5. Activities (included) - great added value (Kayaking, water trikes, glass bottom boat, snorkeling ..
6. Food - the most important for most of us :) let me be very clear, if you are expecting NYC style fine dining every meal you will be disappointed. If you spend most of your time eating at Dino's, Giuseppes, Jerk Shake, Arizona's and the buffets you will most likely be disappointed. The a la carte restaurants are the best (Schooners, Sky, Sapadillas and Le Petit Chateau) for dinner. Breakfast is great at Schooners and Neptunes (a la carte) and you can make your own buffet by ordering a sampling of a few menu items.
Alcohol - is Jack Daniels, Crown Royal, Johnny Walker, Don Julio, Smirnoff, Stoli Vodka etc good enough? Robert Mondavi wine? I would say those are pretty good all inclusive choices.

This resort is fantastic but make sure your expectations are realistic. There will be a faucet issue in a bathroom, service might be a little slow at times, the wifi WILL be be spotty, the steak will not be the best you have ever ate etc.

You get what I am saying, you are paying for the entire experience and when you add everything together this is a great value. If you are expecting the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons ... then go to the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons. It is not fair for this resort to have those types of expectations.

If you go with these real expectations, I promise you will not be disappointed

Beautiful Resort But Customer Service Was Very Inconsistent

CCorrenteon 25/05/2017 01:05

The check-in process was less than desirable. The resort should allow pre-registration vs waiting until getting there to check-in. We did not get our room until at least an hour after the promised check-in time per our reservation.

The inconsistency of the service is my biggest compliant. Some of the employees bent over backwards for you and others could have cared less if you were there.

The music that they played at the French Village pool was less than desirable. It was generally sad love songs and thought I needed a tissue to dry my eyes most of the time. One night the pool bar closed early because there was a wedding - wait why should I be inconvenienced because of a wedding? I didn't come there for the wedding, I came for a vacation.

The resort was beautiful and the grounds crew was often friendlier than the wait staff or guest service staff.

The glass bottom boat was out of service and the resort did nothing to offer alternative activity - this was an activity that was available as part of the package.

Definitely kudos to the staff at Soy!!!! They were outstanding.
